I wouldn't know if my neighbors died... not like I would have known if Mrs. Geovanes had died (our neighbor when I was 10-years-old).
True.. That's sad. Yes, the man at church who held the door for everybody and gave you your program, and candy for the kids, died in a car wreck just two weeks ago, tomorrow. Our neighbor died on June 1st, but we just found out today. We did talk to him, but not his wife or anyone else in his family, so there was no one who knew us well enough to tell us. We found out also that his wife's been sick and hasn't been out of the hospital in months. She was not even home when he died. His neighbor on the other side didn't know he'd died either! We are pretty close to that neighbor....

Life can be too darn short! It is nice that they will be missed. My ILs will probably celebrate wthen they hear of my death.. . unless they die first. Then they will say 'What took you so long to get here??'

How many of you,FW and othes would like a box of magazines shipped book rate to you to divide among family or friends or guilds and cut and save what you like? A box a month for several months?

Have have great day...look for the unexpected. Smile.

Hello Everyone. Yes it's this straggler dropping by again. I was just reading each of your recent activities, and just your chat. QNS your sewing room looks nice with all the organizing you are doing. SBG I enjoyed seeing all those shrooms. I have had some too out the back side of my house. That quilt picture is just so pretty. QNS I know there will be some glad to hear after I am gone, especially the wife of one of my nephews that live next to us and dad's house.(very close), and the day before my dad's funeral and burial they broke in dad's shop and took all his tools and other things that were expensive and part of the estate for us kids. They also cleared out his back porch furniture he built nicely that we would have used. (she is a piece of work) She knew the day before his funeral that we were not up to calling the police, and no we didn't. They have their reward here I guess. It still has been very emotionally upsetting, and not because of the stuff, but that she and my nephew who should know better would do that.

Me and hubby went yesterday to our local clinic and we both tested positive for Strep, so today after a day of lots of sleep, I will be doing laundry all day of our bed clothes etc. We both got a few shots each, and they kept me from sleeping that night so it was a good while before I got a decent night sleep. Now I feel on the mend.

I remember my mom use to talk about just loving to feel fabric, and at the time I couldn't understand that. I thought to stroke my dogs hair yes, but fabric. hehe. Now I DO UNDERSTAND! God left those treasures for me I think when I most needed them from mom.

I am trying to get back in the swing of things, and that's what dad would have wanted. Besides working in another one of my 6" blocks as I can, I want to do some repair on a quilt mom made me long ago. It was the only one I think she did applique on. She loved piecing more than anything, and the quilting. It has big red strawberries appliqued on it, and they need some mending now. I washed it up good, and need to get some fabric to work on it. I may already have some that will work.

I finally gave the long awaited baby girl quilt to the nurse at the clinic. I was in a hurry and due to not feeling well didn't get a good outside picture with my husband's camera. Mine is on the blitz. I ended up trying my first trupunto stitching around the hand embroidered pictures on those blocks. It turned out so pretty. She loved it, and the female doctor told me privately that it was good it came delayed, because she was down so that made me happy. (my hubby calls those God Winks)

SBG I am glad you had that visit with your youngest son.

Honchey I am wanting to move a little light weight bench on my front porch to out to the side of my house and back by the trees, and may have to start a little fairy garden at some point. I want to place some cute things around my bench and make some vinyl cushions to take the rain. I need my own little sanctuary.

Dublb my hubby is from Houston, and has relatives around some of those areas you mentioned.

Oksewglad, we are having sunny weather and warming up again, but last week we had some good rain, and a break with some nice cool temps.

Givio I agree with you on QNS's borders on that quilt. They look so nice, but did she say to have it quilted by the longarmer will be $450.00? I really need to get out more and learn a thing or two. I am sure it was beautifully done.

JanRn and ALL the others hello to all of you.

The fabric for sale wasn't anything I needed, and the prices were high, so I didn't buy one thing at the show. BUT, we stopped at the big quilt shop near the show and they had a 25% discount show special going on! I bought some pretty batiks and small prints. I'm happy.

Honchey, here is a Gypsy's Wife quilt for you to look at:

Nina Sue you are relentless in your clean out! Just wanted to tell you that if the magazines have any advertising in them at all (and most do) they do not qualify for book rate (media mail). They have to be shipped by priority or first class if less than a pound. Sometimes they inspect book rate packages to see what's in them. Media mail is only for printed material without advertising. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it might save someone from getting a fine... It may be better for you to donate them locally.

I have one very sick "puppy". Well at 7 years & 104 lbs she isn't exactly a puppy anymore. She sure thinks she is. Anyway she has been having diarrhea & vomiting. The vet gave her several shots, some pills, & a special food. However yesterday, she wasn't eating nor drinking at all. We started forcing some Gatorade down her ever 15 minutes then 30 minutes last night. DH is helped me. We were trying to keep her from having to get an IV. She is soooo much better this AM. Don't get me wrong she is still a sick puppy but she is better. She ate some of the special canned Dogfood so her stomach is better. I stayed up till 3 am doing the Gatorade thing. DH stayed from 3 till 6 doing the same. I tried the water but it made her gag. It looks like she is drinking water on her own today. (I haven't personally seen it.) We are gonna give her some more of the canned food in a few minutes. She is acting more chipper today also.
We aren't going to Midland tomarrow. She isn't up to the trip. There isn't anyone here that I can ask to watch a sick dog.

JuneBillie, so good to hear from you. I am so sorry for the greed and theft that has occurred over your Dad's property. Sorry to say that happens in most families when the older ones pass on! It's such a shame. I have painful memories of similar incidences at the passing of my father, and my husband's grandparents. I guess you see who people really are in those circumstances.

As for inlaws, mine will probably hold a party when I die, too. From the day I married their brother, they have never liked me. They are all very close with each other and there is no room left in the inner circle for anyone else to come in. They treat the two husbands of two of the sisters the same way. Inlaws are outlaws to them... Very strange family. I don't know how my husband came from those people! He always treated my family like his family and was a true son to my parents while they were alive.

I've been working on a Hawaiian applique quilt (a large wall hanging). I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and learning needleturn applique for this one... I really do enjoy the handwork. Here is a sneak peek... at this stage of it the central turtles are all appliqued down and I have just pinned the outer ring of dolphins in place:

It's hard to see now but the dolphins are actually a mama and baby dolphin. There will be more definition once the edges are turned.

I will check in the book rate, SBG. Thanks for the heads up, sounds like they may go into the burn pile here. Love your block.

JuneBilly, its one day at a time. Too bad about your nephew and wife taking everything they could. Maybe a gentle private word to him might get some things back. Some need that guidance to do the right thing...according to your Dad's wishes. If not, God will open their eyes down the road of life a bit. Meanwhile remember all those good thoughts about your Dad. It is a long road with many bumps and curves in life itself.

Dublb, sounds like you were a good 'vet' helper and the dog has become better because of it. An answer to many a prayer, I would imagine.

Take care everyone and have a good day. Remember it's the positive attitude that kekeps everyone guessing what you are really up to....????? and we are not telling them!
