Affairs of the Heart Cyber-Sew 2011

Sharon, I have a big, white dog, so I use one of those lint rollers with the tear-off sticky paper on each block as I finish it. It gets all the linty stuff off, too. Black fabric becomes a magnet to light junk but I still love how it looks as a background fabric!

Sharon, is it that lint is sticking to it or does it look like the actual fibers have fuzzed? Does that make any sense?? :D I had some black fabric I bought from Keepsake Quilting -- their deep, velvety Amish black -- and when it was washed, it fuzzed a bit. Made it look like a black tee shirt looks after washing and drying. :?
My Kona black acts like a magnet for lint (i.e. threads, kitty hair, miscellaneous fuzzies) so when I'm finished stitching it, I use my lint roller and get all of the buggers off. 8-)

Good for you jolo! Glad to see you back!
Since its 100F outside, its keeping me inside this week, so hope to get back on track.
There is a really interesting article on hand applique in the American Quilter mag. this month (I got mine yesterday). Its about using coffee filters to partially stitch your design together prior to putting it on your background. Really helps to get everything arranged properly vs doing it piece by piece....If you get the opportunity to read it...you should.

My mind jumps ahead sometimes, dee.
Kinda thought you said something else, lol
yes, I agree with patty - pab58, not giving up no matter what, and with you, dee, that we have the benefit of all these inspiring blocks and we get the "oopsies" info, before we blunder into one. really liking that!
Gus-gus...like, wow! girlfriend!!!
My direction seems to be slowly shaping up, and it is 'soothing'.
Not at all what I thought I might do in the beginning, but I'm very happy about it all.
patty, so sorry to hear any time someone backs away from a project bc of comments.
I have done this in the past, but less and less now.
Sometimes it's the very thing, that nobody around you thinks will look good, and you go with your heart and it comes out amazing. Done that too! :XD:
