Yes that is what I was asking. Thank you for your response. I love your examples.

tkhooper--here's an EQ rendition of 12 12" blocks with 3 1/2" sashings on top and bottom. Over all size is 36 x 65. The size of the sashes cut would be 12 1/2" x 4". You could make the top and bottom sashings a 1/2" wider (cut 4 1/2") to get the 66" you want

Thanks for the kind remarks...

So cool. That's perfect. I love it. That will perfectly answer my problem. Thank you so much.

I used the red fabric bought in January. I started with this. The 9P's were all made from 1" wide scraps as trimmings from larger cuts or backings. I found an antique quilt online as inspiration....648 9P's later
What a fabulous quilt! I love it!

OK: That quilt is gorgeous. How big were the nine patches?

I guess it is time to check in. I have been very good so far except for one book and a 17" knitting needle. I have a separate account that is my Quilter's spending account. My dh puts money in each month for me to use for anything I want or "need". I have found that since I am not buying fabric and more fabric, I have money for other things I want and not necessarily need. It feels pretty good!
I have to admit that I haven't even been near a lqs since January. I feel if I do go in one I will slip up and buy! buy! buy!
I have a request. Over the last couple of years I have been accumulating 2-1/2" charms. I have them from swaps and from the fat quarter shop. I get 4 packages a month, (am quitting that today). I am searching for patterns to use these little jewels. I also have many pkgs. of 5" charms. I think just this may give you an idea why I am in this program! And that is just a little peak into my stash! How ever did I let this happen! I am feeling overwhelmed. I need to clean up my sewing room, maybe that will help to get into the right mood to tackle this mess.
Help!

I ordered 4 yards of 108" backing yesterday. My mystery quilt turned out bigger than I expected, so I plan to send it to my LAQ, and I thought the extra-wide backing would work better for her than a pieced back. I hope to give the quilt to my mom next Christmas.

Other than that, I've been good.

Well, I've fallen off the wagon ... WAAAAY off the wagon. I made the planned purchase in January. So far so good. Then came a fabulous sale on Connecting Threads and since I wanted to do the Old Friends BOM, I ordered 1/2 yard pieces of the 17 solid colours I needed for that at 30% off. Still OK as it was for a particular project. But that was the beginning of the downslide. Quilt retreat at the end of February and we visited a quilt shop that was moving and had a fabulous sale. $72.00 and 14 yards later.... Then I needed a particular green for the block swap, but ended up ordering much more than that one green--12 yards more.

So, I guess I better declare that I'm a complete failure at this moratorium stuff. On the upside, I've made or completed 13 quilt tops since the beginning of the year and most of the fabric was from stash, including the backings I've set aside for each quilt top. I guesstimate I've used 70 yards of fabric in these quilts and have purchased 30 yards. So I'm 40 yards ahead, but that's not exactly a moratorium!
