My favorite treadle is my 1936 Singer 201k-4(original hand crank). There's also my 1968 Singer 237 zig zag and 99K hand crank. Also my 1916 Singer 66-1 red eye.

    Hi Sharon,

I’ve been waiting to see a photo of your Singer 201K4 HC/Treadle. Thanks for posting it. It looks good! I got to see your Singer 66-1 “in action” at the Northeast Texas TOGA, but I hadn’t seen your 201K before now. I can’t tell for sure from the photo, but is your 201K4 in a straight-leg (metal) treadle cabinet?

One of my newest acquisitions is a 1948 Singer 201K4 that I picked up in Mesquite Texas. It was electric when I got it, but now has a spoked hand wheel (from a 66) and a Singer hand crank (from a 28), so I have it set up as a portable. I also picked up a 1940s Singer straight-leg (metal) treadle that I may use with my 201K4 and some other Singer heads that I have. We ran out of room for cabinets a while back, but I may have to make a spot in the house for this treadle cabinet. I don’t have a Singer treadle in the herd currently, and since I like Singers, I probably should have at least one.

    CD,
My 201k-4 was bought at the Llano TOGA in 2007, it's a natural born hand crank in a bentwood case; after I wound the first bobbin the 201 became a treadled machine. The step-grands like to use the hand crank, they've not got wanted to treadle yet.
My cabinet was a freebie from my friend,Karen, I just recently swapped out the straight leg irons for another set in better condition. My set was missing a screw and just didn't turn very well despite having been taken all apart and thoroughly cleaned, greased, oiled and adjusted. My original set was the donor for a few parts for the newer set. I have 3 Singer treadle cabinets and 4 heads. Soon I'll have my Singer 115 ready to sew, my son and I just got it freed up; it was rusted inside and even came with a bonus mud dauber nest in the pillar. Soon I'll have another 66-1 red eye cleaned up and sewing; my friend got it for free and asked if I wanted it (silly girl of course!!!).
It doesn't look like your 201 has much in the way of decals and is shiny, my machine is a 1936. I prefer the Singer treadles too, I learned to sew on an electric Singer 66 in junior high school.

CD, I recently got a 15-96 in a straight leg treadle just like yours. I think it's a 1956 model 15. Did they make the same straight leg treadle cabinet/irons for all those years? You say yours in 1940s...so, over 10 years? Thanks.

I am also planning to put my 66-1 brown lotus decals in this same treadle base, swapping out the 15.
