That's what we did. We have a formal LR/DR that we will never use as that and a family room area, so I took over the LR/DR for my studio, complete with LA.

My quilt studio is in what was originally a formal LR. It is the 1st room you see when you come in my front door & it is heavenly. I have a huge window that is broken up in to 4 parts that each open so I am able to have a nice breeze when the weather permits. I say go for it!

I say go for it. You will enjoy the rxtra room and who cares what you do with your house? It's yours to live in and enjoy!
