OH CHRISTMAS I CAN DO! lol ok when it comes to holidays you would think I was a spring chicken still starting out needing more of this stuff.. but truth is I can not get enough. My mom was a.. grumpy sort. Very old school German. but what she did do for us was gift us all the holidays. She went all out put out stuff, let us decorate the .. ll out of her front windows. And I mean all over them. We made art! we made cut outs! we painted with window paint! the big like 8 foot by 5 foot windows all three of them.. were ours to to display our seasonal stuff. And I think back wow I was not nearly so patient. I gave my kids the fridge.. the rest of the house was a display for hallmark, for the arts for things I coordinated. Wish I had been so free spirit with that .. so in honor of Mom who passed away at 92 three years ago .. I am going holiday to the tenth degree. and no kids or grandkids so it has to be ME who does it. and I do Its a gift I gave my daughter she sent me pics of her new house.. and she says oh I cant wait to decorate for fall! for Halloween and I wanted to laugh.. the gift keeps giving.

I saw some vintage style patriotic the other day tea stained red/white/tea colored striped fabric I needed. No one to use it on.. .. hum hum hum... course my turkey fabric is yelling WHAT ABOUT ME! so you see you get me.. you might just score the big kahuna! (oh I have tropical fabrics decided to collect a few last summer) .. or you get Jaba and your project is done right now! and well Dustysmomma would like to think she can slide off into the sunset with no partner but we can all gang up on her and well.. sneak attack. wait til the last like 1/2 hour then slide in with a sign up.. and there she is.. one of us again batiks dustysmomma batiks.. you could want a batik and black something oh dear who has any of those??? lol all of US> duck we are coming for you girl!

My mom didn't do a lot of decorating, just a little tree that she wrapped up (still decorated) in a plastic bag the rest of the year. Decorating was my fun thing to do and still is. My daughter just decided last year that maybe it was time for her to start doing some too (DGS is 9!). The tree and the lights are his favorite part.

Christmas at our house was always just the tree, until I was 11 & mother bought a silver tabletop size tree and all blue decorations. She used it for 3 Christmases and then the guy she was dating whined so much about Christmas and all the fuss that the last year she put up the tree, but didn't buy any presents. At the last minute, she felt bad about her decision and decided I needed a new set of sheets, which she bought from the clearance bin with her Sears employee discount. I got up Christmas morning & there was nothing. I was sitting in the living room floor watching a parade on TV & she came out to make coffee. She didn't say a word til she came back to get a cup. That's when she tossed me the bag & said "Merry Christmas."

I tried to be better than than for Dusty. I decorated over the top when he was little. When I got divorced in 2005, I didn't have him here all the time & we're not usually here, so I've not really decorated much since then, but I still have everything, including the teddy bears I collected every year when he was little.

Brat, how did you know that DustyMomma's runner is being done in Batik?? I haven't posted anything! I know....you snuck into my studio & peeked!! Naughty you!! Gonna have to ban you from my shop!! This swap depends on my partner. I like all the holidays, but don't decorate usually except for Christmas. I guess 'cuz all those years driving around this country I wasn't home for most of them anyway. Maybe I should now. I'll think about it.

You guys are evil, lol. Batiks & black, marble & black. Love it! Love it! Now who is it you have lined up to pop in at the last minute & sign up? There's still 4 bags of licorice in my pantry & I'm not afraid to use em, lol.

For anyone who is interested in what's going into Cindy's runner, here's the centerpiece of it. I just finished stitching it out....

Need I remind you Dusty'smomma, I said I would be your partner. I don't care what you make, but want to see that embroidery machine working itself to death!!! Think I would even handle those black cats and spiders (if you had to) but Xmas or Thanksgiving would be really nice. All kids coming home this year at the end of October to celebrate Thankgiving and Christmas. It's the only time of the year it seems that everyone can get the time off at the very same time. Going to have a BIG houseful. Decorating one room for each holiday, I'm going to think I lost my mind. Hubby is even going to decorate our house on the outside for Christmas....the neighbors will think we lost it too!!!
