What about the rest of you first birthday babes? What are we all planning on doing with our candies? I hope to finish up my green ghost this weekend. Stitching in the ditch and binding are waiting for me by my machine. I only get to quilt if I can finish my grading....
I'm curious too, wondering if any of you sort your candies by color? I know it would be a project, but I ordered the falling star pattern, and she uses color pretty effectively. BUT it would require you to sort by color. Hugs all!

I do usually store my candies by color. Also by "children's", "Christmas" and batiks.

Yes, I sort by color and theme. For example, I have Christmas, red and white, black and white, floral, children, etc. Makes it easy to put my hands on what I need at the moment.

Mine right now are kind of like organized chaos. I should sort by color, this would be a good meditative practice for me.

Yup, I sort by color also. My first year or two I just put them in a small clear shoe box but it did not take long to discover that I liked to feature a single color, or perhaps emphasize with a color in my quilts. I them began to put like colors into zip-lock bags by color. About 5 years ago, I just gave up and bought eight 13 X 9 plastic storage boxes at the Dollar Store. Yes, I have that many 2.5s. Generally there are two colors in each box. I keep one box for juvenile/i-spy/Christmas/Holiday because other than Christmas I don't have a lot of those prints. Another box is white/cream/black. Then as I sew/quilt and create scraps I cut the smallest pieces into 2.5 and put them in their color boxes. It works for me.

Reba, I have been entranced by 2.5's for a long time and admittedly it took awhile for me to discover my "style" for using them. If you want to sort, you can always start small, with zip lock bags perhaps. Even when making a true scrappy, it is often preferred to balance color intensity and it may be easier to do so when the scraps are sorted. Now after all my blathering, how your sort colors depends on you and the way you use color. I adore truly scrappy quilts that others make. Some quilters just dip their hand into a bag and add the color they pull out. I find this challenging and disconcerting. I guess, I like to control my scrappiness.

    Good conversation starter!

Oh happy day!! Just what I needed to see today! Thank you - PM my May address!
The Red Pepper quilt looks interesting - I have so many darker colors I wonder if I did this with the darker as background and the plus sign as brights. hmmmm
I have a pile of Batiks, solids, I spy, and then sort by colors. I used the batik candy in my avator and loved the variety.
Sew many ideas - so little time. but at least it is an easy thing to set up on the road.
Three weeks ago we came to MA for DH chemo and NH still had snow - campground was filled with tulips and spring flowers. This time the lilacs are blooming. Oh I love lilacs.
