I like Nike & New Balance the best. Hardly ever wear dress shoes & heels are a major no no. They throw my back out bad.

I haven't read all the responses, but if no one else has suggested I'd suggest Merrills
They are expensive, but do turn up on sale. The mesh tops are probably on sale now as they're considered a summer shoe. I wear them year round.

SAS brand are the most comfortable I have found. I have feet that hurt in most shoes. I wear Berkenstocks most of the time. SAS is leather, and has good arch support. They are not cheap. I bought my last ones about 4 years ago and they were $100 then. You can find them on the internet. Good luck!

I wear Birkinstock all year. I like the sandle/sandel (not sure how to spell it) with the backs. I wear them with socks in the winter. They have really become stylish in past few years. But comfort is most impportant for me. I but them from QVC or HSN.com.

I also have foot problems with tender feet. I have settled on SAS, Clark's sandals, and recently a pair of Ryka Mary Jane type of shoes. I was able to wear them all day the first day, and was shocked with the comfort. Love all three brands, and wear nothing else.

I wear Clarks all the time and the new ones are light weight and have good arches. It's good to have good arch support if you are standing for long periods of time on your feet. I work out and buy Nike Air Running Shoes for their great support. I have no back pain wearing these brands and if you need further support may I suggest an arched orthotic for your shoes and I wear Powerstep which were around $30. If you go with the orthotic in your shoe, make sure you wear the orthotic to fit in your new shoes. I sure hope this helps.

If you are talking about athletic shoes, try "Ryka" ... these are designed by women for women's feet!! After working for years on my feet and walking constantly (as a PTA) I had to have closed-toe shoes... found the "Ecco" brand to be very comfortable and supportive! Take care of your feet!!!

I have tried SAS and Clark's which are OK but the best shoe I have found for comfort, support and style is NAOT. They are leather and come in many styles from sandles, flats, heels and boots. When we went to Hawaii several years ago I was by a specialty shoe store and went in to look for a comfortable sandle. The clerk showed me the NAOT and once I had them on I was in love. They are expensive $100+ but they will last you forever. I have 7 pairs in different styles and even the pairs with a heel (2") are so comfortable I can wear them all day even if I am on my feet. Another great thing is the insole is replaceable and you can make your shoes last forever. I just replaced insole on a pair of shoes I bought 4 yrs. ago and for $50 they are like new again. You really need to look for this brand and try a pair they are the best.
