I recently came into possession of a Free Westinghouse sewing machine and I cannot find any information about it online. Does anyone know about this machine or where I can get information about it?

What kind of information are you looking for? If it is like the one of post #3, the approximate date of the machine would be 1946-1951.

Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Additionally, when I have tried to "insert" pictures, it will take a while even if it is just one picture, after clicking on the paperclip icon. (This is after you have hit the "Upload" button and closed that window.) You will see the "busy" icon at the top of the page or tab spinning for a while before it list the pictures that it will attach.

I hope these help. I wasn't sure about what to send. I looking for a cord, bobbins and needles. I would love to find a manual for it as well.

I own one that all Singer parts fit it. Used it for many years of garment making and the motor finally burned out when my daughter was using it for a 4-H project. I still have it as a memorabilia because I won it in a contest when I was in the 8th grade and got about 30 years of sewing out of it.

I'm not sure what cord this takes for sure. Does it have cords coming from the machine at all? Does it look like

If so you will need a motor cord block, which may or may not come with a foot controller.

The original needles are unique and no longer made. I worked on a machine that all the info said it took a unique needle, but I found needle tips when cleaning and decided to try a 15x1, which worked. I don't know if it had been retimed in its lifetime or it was originally made that way. Did it have a needle in it? Dusting off the cobwebs in my head. I believe that your machine may have a tapered friction drive wheel. I don't think you can hinge the motor back to block it from the handwheel Therefor the drive wheel may develop flat spots. It can be quite noisey and may not start without you turning the hand wheel. Again, this is a fuzzy recollection, but one to consider.

it looks like maybe you have all the cords you need. I suspect the cord in the left pic fits into the case at pic 3 and the ohtere end plugs into the wall. The knee lever is your controller and the electrical blok with the two cards prvides full power for the light and knee controlled power for the machine.

Use a power strip and inspect all cords for cracking before you plug anything into the wall.

Free of this era often would have decal showing bobbin length on the bed somewhere.

I have a 1949 Free Westinghouse Rotary machine and manual that a lady brought to me out of the goodness of her heart, gas money and 1 dozen free range eggs.

It has all the original papers in the drawer. It came with a 20 year guarantee and attachments. The cabinet looks just like a desk and when opened up is long enough to handle curtains or quilts. I have not plugged it in yet.

I can copy the manual and post it in a few days if anyone wants it. We have company coming and I am freshening the guest rooms.

I have an advanced case of vintage sewing machinitis. It all started with an old Domestic Treadle. My husband is asking for prayers and interventions for me.
