I need a base for my Singer 404

I need a base for my Singer 404
I'm guessing the machine was always in a cabinet.
Does anyone know a source for a base?
Thank you.
I was just looking machines on ebay, there are some that are smooth around the bottom
and some like mine. Now I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Is that smooth part something that is detachable, it sure doesn't look like the base of any portable I have.

That base was typically for machines that were in a Singer case. The top locks into the sides of it. So, you'd have to search for a Singer case with top and bottom.
As is, you don't need a base as it's all enclosed and has feet on the bottom.

I believe that that smooth bottom is indeed a detachable (plastic?) tray.
The lower picture is probably a machine that was taken out of a cabinet, which is why it had no tray.
If authenticity isn't important, a reasonably competent woodworker could make a tray very easily, or perhaps modify a cabinet into a table-top base.

I bought this machine specifically for traveling so a case would be nice.
Never gave it a thought when I bought it My mind is slow to catch up.
I do envision it in a cabinet when not on the road...

I know, I've got one. I guess I'm just a completist... and worry about dropping my bag or having it slam around the car.
But it looks like the 404 that fits the case has a flip up side. Mine is solid, so perhaps there is no case for mine.
Interesting search though.

You could also look for one of these:

The 401 and 503 fit in them, so I don't see why the 404 won't.
The only gotcha is that there's an "adapter" for the foot pedal for some of them so the cord reaches. I don't know the part number of it, but I can photograph one for you.

Tammi,
The holes in the base that the rubber feet fit through are not the same on the base for the 401 and the base for the 500. I just sold 500 that the buyer wanted a case for. I measured and drilled a new hole for the 'misplaced' foot of the 500. The top clamps/ catches on the lip of the machine's bed and not the base. Interesting setup. The top on the wooden version weights a ton, this plastic version is very light

It looks pre-drilled for what you described:

Of course I don't have a 401/403 here to test right now, but the 411G should be the same base, I think....

The case in the photo basically sits up against the machine's bed from the bottom. The bed rests on it, and the case is a little loose, so the feet from the machine actually sit on the table.

And since I had the camera out, here's the connector I talked about:
(Not needed if the 404 has a double lead cord)
