I love the machine and the fact that you have a German manual makes it that much more sweeter!! Look under the machine and see if you see a knob under the bed near the bobbin assembly. If it has one all you have to do is loosen it up and the feed dogs will drop for you so you can darn and FMQ with. Just drop the dogs and take all of the tension off of the presser foot and you are ready to FMQ!!

I like the cabinet and I would pay that much for it. I don't care for the machine, but would try to use the cabinet with something else if possible. IMHO

Wow... just picked up the latest machine I bought, a Singer 15-91. The decals are absolutely mint and just glow! It has a nice 4 drawer cabinet, too. And the big surprise, it's a centennial model! It was made in '51 and has the blue ring on the emblem. Woo hoo! Can't wait to service it and try sewing. It already moves smoothly so I know it's going to be a good sewer. It came with a buttonholer, original manual, and several feet and one extra bobbin.

They are starting to take over the house...

A year or so ago I purchased a beautiful Red Eye (1914) to convert to a handcrank. I also have a Red Eye ( 1910) that belonged to my husband's grandmother (shows a great deal of wear and dirt buildup) as it was stored in my MIL's basement for years. The cabinet is is pretty good condition, but the bobbin plate is missing.

Anyway, the Red Eye for the conversion is almost perfect except that there was not place to attach the handcrank. I pulled the Red Eye from the treadle cabinet (it has the screw location for the motor mount). I have attached the handcrank conversion and will now proceed with a thorough cleaning.

I have placed the almost perfect Red Eye into the treadle cabinet and installed a new belt (the old one was broken and in one of the drawers). I have apparently installed the belt incorrectly because I am unable to raise the head far enough backwards to raise the front wood panel to lower the head into the cabinet. I will get a new belt because I probably cut too much off the belt I installed. But the belt kept jumping off the big wheel -- any tips on how to overcome this issue.

Also a bobbin is stuck on the bobbin winder, but I am thinking a good Kerosene soak will loosen it for removal. I have your instructions printed out for referral when I get back to the cleaning part. I just am not sure about the belt problem. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Hi everyone. I am new to the board and use it to help my grandmother out with her quilting fun however she's not good with computers. So I bought a machine at an estate sale recently and would like to give it to her at an upcoming holiday. It is a 1927 model 99 one of the portable case ones. I was able to get everything cleaned and working except one thing. I am looking for the detachable knee bar for the machine. The knee bar is the type with the circular end to it is not the flat bar type. I know these are ahrd to find. If anyone can help me out in finding one and selling it to me for a fair price Id appreiate it. Thanks.
