I'm all packed up & headed ta Brady tamarrow. I'm gonna meet my DD, & DGK's there. My DM & DGM also are gonna go. This is gonna be a great trip! I got real sad the last time I was there, thinkin' that DGM would never git ta go there again. I'm so glad that she is enough better that she can go. I sure hope she doesn't try ta take that walker up the stairs. That could bad. At least DM will be there ta help me keep her from goin' up the stairs.

Yes JanieW it is a Pfaff, my normal Pfaff Expressions 3.0 is in having a service so I am quilting on my Pfaff Creative 4.0, just took the embroidery arm off it and straight sew on it. It is FMQ'ing beautifully. Won't get back to it until the weekend though tomorrow is a big day for me..
No news is good news on the SewGrands Anael, I bet you are sleeping better too..

Can't wait for the next mystery block to be sent out, I had so much fun making this block, even my DH loved it

Lots of chatter yesterday...good to hear from so many. It was my day to work at the quilt shop. I picked up some backing for the quilt I was working on at the retreat. We were out of the batting I needed so will have to wait til next week to start quilting it. That's ok, it gives me this week to catch up on needed rest and things in the house after being gone for 4 days.

QE--I found the leaf fabric and will get that sent out next time I am in town.

Anne, are these new machines from Viking? I'm going to a Quilting Expo and Viking is supposed to be there; I'd love to check out new machines. I love the sensor system, too, so if the new machines don't have that I'd be disappointed. I'm really not NEEDING a new machine, but.... Sometimes when I work extra days I feel like I need a little reward LOL.
Nice to hear from everyone (where's Jeanie?) and know all is well.

Jan,If you have the Sapphire the changes in the new Big machines are cosmetic...The newer machines I spoke about are a little smaller around the size of the Emeralds , has a longer bed than the Emeralds.....has alot of features for it's size..has a computerized touch screen....rated as a "best Buy" by Consumers Digest...it's priced right for what it has in it...just NO Sensor System...Yet...I'm hoping!!! I would love to see that happen...Would buy it then in a New York Minute!!!!
Mirabelle, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow you will find out who you have for next week!!!!

And the rest on the 25th ... yes, just like Christmas!!

    Anael
... photos are taken ... will download and email to you today! Hope that Oma and the SewGrands had a Good Night's sleep!

GGal ... Look forward to seeing your quick quilt project!

JanRN ... another FART trip for you? Is this the Ohio one in April? Of course you "need" another reward!

Honchey and JanRN ... what do you mean by the sensor system? Please do explain!

Honchey ... What better job, than to "have" to play on machines while at work. I get frustrated as I'd really like to "test drive" a machine by doing something productive, and not just simple little stitch samples. To me, that just doesn't let me get the real feel of it. You'll have to take some pics of what your students have mastered to show us! Hope you had a good sleep in ... though with me, usually when I can, I can't!!

DublB ... Just home and leaving again!!! Looks like a multi-generational girls getaway. How nice!

CarrieM ... thank you! No rush ... actually maybe keep it for now, in case I want/need something else and can send it all together?

I have the Sapphire and do love it so I wouldn't upgrade unless I have to. Always fun to look at new things. QE, yes this is the annual expo that we go to each year. It's March 21 in Cleveland. Have to hope the weather holds--it's been snowing & freezing & melting & refreezing, etc. for this entire winter. Stupid Phil the Groundhog was so wrong about an early spring!! This expo is huge--when I walk in I expect to hear angels singing the Hallelujah Chorus!! Last year was when I first tried the Sweet16. I really hope there's nothing tempting this year other than tons of fabric. That's also my & MrJanRn's 43rd wedding anniversary; I hope he's not offended that the expo took priority LOL!!!

Getting excited about the Mystery Blocks and that darn Anael won't give us a hint!!

Anael, I just sent a picture of my mb. Hopefully you will get it and let me know. I have a newer computer system and I'm still trying to get used to it. I lost a lot of my files and have been busy trying to reload some of them.

Hi Jan and everyone.....waving !!!!! We have been out with our camping group since Monday, and just got home.

Oh Anael, another grand photo of you, your son and Isa! How precious, so glad she and Bram are making good progress!

I'm almost finished with my MB, hopefully will get it done by the weekend.

Jan, at the expo, check out the new Brother Dreamweaver Sewing Machines. I saw them when I was in Phoenix and have watched the videos on the Brother site. They are amazing! I picked up an inexpensive Brother when I started quilting again about four years ago. I had been using my Singer 503 (which I still have) prior to that. I use it for all my piecing, and take it in the motorhome when we travel. I just love that little machine. I use a Baby Lock to do my quilting. It does not have a huge throat space, but MUCH bigger than my little Brother.

QuiltE, you select a fabric type...woven light, med or heavy...knit light, med heavy...vinyl,leather and the Sensor System selects the needle to use, stitch length, tension and actually senses the fabric so that the presserfoot has the correct amount of pressure on the fabric as it's being sewn...what I love is that when you stop sewing and the needle is in the down position the presserfoot lifts about 1/8" and you can pivot if you need to ...better yet is when you're sewing and stop you don't have to use your hand to raise the presser foot...you just sew off the piece and tap the foot pedal and the foot raises so you can remove it. or press the cut button and the machine pulls the thread to the bottom and cuts the thread and lifts the presserfoot...Voila!!!! The Sensor System..

JanRN ... Of course MrJanRN will be very understanding and will no doubt send you off with his Visa and say, treat yourself, HoneyJanRN! I saw something about a quilting expo or show or something in Mid April in OHio .. you just may have to go a 2nd time.

GrannyQ ... Good to "see" you. How is your sister doing?

Anael ... what a picture of happiness!! Thanks for sharing it with us!! Glad you approved of my MB ... you asked the name in your email, it's ________________!!!!

Honchey ... WOW! that Sensor System is pretty intriguing and inviting!! So what's wrong with that machine that it does not pick the fabric for you too? Kidding!!!!!!!!!!!! So does your Husqy have any models to compete with JanRN's Sweet 16? What's the broadest throat space? (and no, I do not want/need an embroidery machine)

Just received my e-mail from our fearless leader and I know who I have for this month .................... I have all my pattern books on the table and now time to decide

Oh how I love being your Loyal Quilt Inspector and helping you out

Thanks for the kind words on the picture. It sure is Bram's turn but he hasn't been on anybody's lap yet. They're both doing fine. With Isa they tried to decrease the oxigen flow but she didn't respond very well so it's back to what it was before. Bram is still breathing on his own with support of meds. We have to see how he will be doing without those meds. He's a little happy camper in his incubator

Honchey....glad you survived your very busy week. I got my new name for the MB exchange. I had just decided on the pattern for her last night! I've been studying the requested blocks and looking through my patterns at the end if the day. Can't wait for the 25th!
Dubib....what a special trip for the ladies in your family! Make some more memories.
JanRN & Honchey....I didn't know a machine could do that. Amazing. Too bad it is the top of the line and price.
GrannyQ...you're getting the new computer figured out. Nice to hear from you.
Anael....that picture made my day! You DDIL captured something special! Glad to hear that Bram is a happy camper.
Jeanie....waving back...we've missed you but it's nice that you can do camping with special friends. I started quilting again about 3 years ago too and have a Brother 6000i which got me going. I did get a second hand Janome 6500 about a year and a half ago which is my go to now. I take the Brother to class.
Mirabelle....welcome back from your trip. Is it still the rainy season for you? March has come in like a lion this year. I'm waiting for the lamb to do some yard work.
i had to add a row of blocks to my current project to make it long enough for a twin bed and it's taken me an extra day. Borders today. Have to get something pretty for backing Monday when I go to class.

It seems all the manufacturers have machines with large throats, some are bigger horozontally, some vertical and some have both...all with similar but different named features...there's a straight stitch almost industrial machine that several of the manufacturers call their own??? and it's the same machine!!!!! they all "borrow" from each other..
the newest platform that Viking produces has several models ranging in price...all of them are sewing machines... several are sewing & embroidery some are just sewing...all of the newest "platform" machines have the sensor system but some of the lower end priced machines don't have the cut feature...these of course are less expensive....on the largest platform viking machine from needle to pillar I believe is 10.5 or 11 inches. I'm not sure..I'm not sitting in front of it right now...

I hope all of you received an email for the month of April...if not please let me know....

I'm glad you're all back and doing well especially the Sewgrands!!!..

Happy St.Patty's day to those of you celebrating...Corned beef and Cabbage on Sunday...mac & cheese for the grandkids...

Palm Sunday & Easter are just around the corner....

I was going to work on my MB the last few days but never got around to it...I do have it cut out...I WILL get it to my machine today...I want it out of the way to get to the new block... I'll be sending Anael a photo of it when I finish it today....

    Anticipation.....yeah!! a good thing!!!

Corned beef and cabbage, Irish Soda Bread. Cannot find lamb here, and its pricy when it is found, so no mutton stew. Goat is a good substitute, but none available here.

Planning a FART trip on the 25th. Must have Pony Club Quilt put together then; half of slashing left done yesterday. hope to finish today. Might have company tonight, so better make up the beds in the guest room. Off kitchen duty today, so gotta make that sewing machine sing today...one stitch at a time.

Love planning a new block for the month...its springing up!!

    Anael,

That picture of the three of you just exudes love and delight. I loved it.

Today is a half day so the girls and my son will be home from school early. I must get off the computer and make hay while the sun shines. My other son who is holding the fort at home says he mailed my MB yesterday as they are having a snow storm. He was worried it wouldn't move if he waited til today. I am about 4 hours south of that and there is no snow here! love the chinooks that blow through here.

Hi to everyone. Happy stitching. Haave a good weekend all.

Everyone is so busy it seems! I finished my MB last night. I'll get a photo taken and sent to Anael as well, and also got my new MB recipient. Thanks for all your work Anne!

The Physical Therapy for my hand has really helped immensely. After 2 weeks of therapy I've improved 50%. Guess I'd better get my butt in gear and get out of here for my appointment this morning.

GGal it is still the wet season here although we have had glorious weather this past week. Cyclone Sandra moved away from the coast and now we have Cyclone Tim sitting off the coast in the Coral Sea. The weather bureau are predicting later this week we might get more rain.

DH has gone fishing and I am going to spend all day quilting butterflies.

A big thank you to Anael, you helped me immensely last night and I am now on the right track with my new MB.

    Now it is brekkie time

Spring flowers are springing up here; tulips and daffodils and all the rest. Blue birds and robins are here by the dozen. Ducks and guineas spend the day in the orchard 'cause they like the new green growth too well.

Finished sewing all the slashing on PC blocks, but turned one upside down! Oh, well another day we hope. Guest coming in this evening to attend their GU visitation tonight and funeral tomorrow. Elderly man, who apparently lived a good life. Beef and noodles in the old dutch oven on the stove.
