Gus, when you get the group set up, please let me know. I will then put a link to it in Post #1 of this thread so it will be easy to find for our members.

Got it, Monica, and thank you for all the time you have spent for our group! It's amazing how much time has passed since you started the other thread and, little by little, we've made so many blocks!

I tried my hand at QAYG (quilt as you go), utility stitching (big stitch), and here are the results. I grabbed F-1 when I meant to grab A-1. It was a little hard to get the blocks to line up, this was my second try. I'm a little worried about when I get the whole row together, but will deal with that when I get to that point. I did enjoy having such a small piece to work on rather than wrestling with a big quilt.

Does anyone use an excel spreadsheet to track their progress? I found one online when I started my DJ. It tracks the finished blocks and the number of pieces. It keeps a running total for you at the top. For example, mine says I have completed 77 blocks, 0 triangles, 0 kites, and have used 1,362 pieces. I will see if I can find the link if anyone is interested.

That sounds interesting sew4min. I think that would keep me a bit more on track. I have my Dear Jane fabrics all in a bag waiting for me to get this going. I have the book and ruler. I am not a paper piecer so the software is not necessary. I have all my Buggy Barn scrap fabrics I will be using for this quilt ad another one I am working on. Should be loads of fun. Thank you so much Gus for doing this one more round.

Cindy - quilting looks great!!! I have to have the nerve to try it.... except when I look at the greenfairyquilts blog with that beautiful Kaffe baby jane I think I want more quilting But could I really do that and would it be too stiff???

sew4nin - I have my squares' pieces counted and like a fool I put it into a word doc instead of excel sheet. I did however then cut and paste it into excel and have 3539 pieces in the center [without L10 and without all those sashing pieces because she is not together] If you can't post a link for it, let us know and I will see if I can get something together.

QuilterMomma - I'm not sure what you mean about 'clearing my messages???' all messages stay on the thread and other people post and make comments in between. This is actually why I wanted to have a parallel thread going where I would be the only person able to post. PatriceJ just sent me a response to yesterday's question as I didn't thoroughly understand the "Community: Groups" procedures. I have 3 GS's to watch in a short while. I will get it set up when I return later. When I do get it started I will post a link on this thread. It would be great to have stuff like a link to an excel spreadsheet there as well. So once we have that, I will copy it over.

    Gus

Cre8tvlwyr - once again I would like to join the new Dear Jane - I am in WV hoping to move to Fl. around July of this year so will not be able to keep up. I do have the book and have started a couple of blocks. Please add me to your list - so enjoy this link. I delete anything not relating to quilting. Thanks again Leepat.

Thanks everyone for clearing things up and the offer on how to keep track of the Dear Jane blocks...very interested in that as I am starting out with all of the A row and all of the B row in DJ first....and probably on down the list that way. Using alternative blocks so I do not hand sew. Arthritis in my hands will not allow me to hand stitch.

I have the rulers and the book and the CD. I don't know what I did but it came out wrong. I will keep working on it.

It took about a week to send all the ones I did because I had to send several times daily as the system only allows 5 BCCs at a time [or CCs] and you have to space these out a bit because when I tried to send too many in a row, or send an hour later, the system immediately sent me to the home page. This is how this particular site tries to prevent spammers.... I get it but it is annoying if you want to get an actual message out to a large group and I had 137!!

If I want to get a message to "all" of you I simply will post it here. Barb,
you said you have trouble with the tris... I'm not sure whether you had the Jane rulers? The triangle ruler is invaluable here. You can also trace the outer shape of one of the triangles in the book [& add 1/4" all the way around] onto a piece of template plastic, or have one cut at a hardware store as DottyD suggested [or was it QuiltnNan??]
This will allow you to "audition" your fabrics and ensure you don't go beyond the seam line.
