Lipster, (and anyone else that may have problems) well, curiosity got me so made up the top half of the new block. First one I used the template printed, the size turned out fine. Then I wondered if I could use my Recs tool, of the Tri-Recs set, and measured the paper template. It was perfect cutting it at the 4 1/2" line on the tool. So far so good, top half measured correctly too. I always use a scant seam allowance, would rather trim than not have size correct. Make sure the sheet you printed off w/the templates on it measures up...the little square shd be 1".

I hope you can get it to come out correctly - but if it doesn't work out, don't worry about it, it's just an extra block..

Connie: your quilt look really nice.

Chasezzz Love your Compass quilt and the other two are nice too but the Compass is my favorite.

Everyone blocks are so colorful and they look great.

Still haven't done mine. (LOL)

Chasezzz, I really need paper piecing lessons, love the Compass quilt!! 1st of October I'll be back in Florida..hint...hint appointment maybe???
Oksewnsew, I used the tri-Recs also and must have put it on the wrong line but I could cut it down 1/8" all the way around and it was fine. When I used the template it was longer and narrower but my gauge was correct. Anyway after 2 tries it's done.

Very pretty Jaba. Wish I could find more paisley fabric - it seems to be far and wide to find it. I got the other pcs cut and am ready to sew the middle and bottom sections together, and it all measures fine. Had to stop and work on another project, will get to it tomorrow.
Boy, it seems you just moved back from Florida - is it that time already? lolo

Thanks all for the kind words on my tops...I do love paper piecing but admit the Compass Roses was quite an involved project! That quilt is for our bed. Jaba, happy to do a pp lesson when you get back! One thing that has made pp easier for me and allows me to do large complex projects without getting frustrated is to use translucent paper (no need for a light source). I have a stash of paper from Deb Kerasik that is translucent and cotton based (expensive but I asked my daughter for it for Christmas and she gave me a lot!). You also can use vellum.

I call it done, however imperfect. Who would have thought those little units would make me sweat blood? LOL

Jaba! I somehow missed you live in Wyoming - pretty obvious if I would have read below your avatar! I'm in Cheyenne for 12 months/year - no Florida for me

Oh Libster, that turned out gorgeous...practice makes perfect, so they say...and boy do I have a lot of practice..lolo When the 'not so perfect' blocks are in a quilt and done, you won't be able to see imperfections while on a galloping horse anyway... I'm proud you finished it.. yeaaaaa

I made the bonus last night and it didn't come out quite right. I think I am going to take it apart and try again. Its just a bit under in size. I was getting so pleased with myself when the last few blocks came out the right size so I don't want to go backwards:-)
