LOL no, don't pass over ! ! ! You can clip the paper and sew the y-seams.
If you can and want to remove the paper, draw the seamlines on the pieces.

Jan, I usually tear off the paper that's in the seam line an inch or so before the joining. That way, there is still some stability without the bulk in the seam and also a guide to sew along. Anael's suggestion of drawing the line is a good one. Here is where I find the clover clips are worth their weight! They just hold the seam line so well where pins tend to push the underside out if line. You're a more experienced quilter than when you first tried y seams, you might find them much easier now. Have fun!!!

Thank you! I'll try it tomorrow, hated to pass over it since it's the 4th block in the 1st row of DJ. I'll let you know how it goes. And GGal, I agree--I love those red binding clips. I tried the ones from the dollar store but the red ones just slide right off without slowing down and like you said, there's no distortion of the fabric. I'm going to remove the paper about an inch before the join and draw the line to where they meet.....ok, this sounds doable. And being that we're supposed to get about 8" of snow tomorrow I'll be in the bat cave all day. Snow ranks right up there with y-seams and colonoscopies in my opinion!!

Anael that is beautiful, love the colors even though it is scrappy there seems to be a color theme. The sashing and cornerstones are perfect.:thumbup:

I have all the rows sewn on the Bargello and two halves, tomorrow I will have one whole quilt (fingers crossed) with borders added. It is booked into the longarmer on Thursday but if I could drop it off on Monday morning I will be one happy little camper.

And just to break the monotony I decided to refold all my yardage today and tidy up my baskets of fabric bits. Only have to fold the blues and I have a clean cupboard.

Anael, that's beautiful. What size are the blocks? I bought the book, looked it over and gave it to my friend (don't know why) and she's making one in all 30's & 40's prints.

Mirab, I was in a cleaning mood yesterday, too. I've been buying more FQs than yardage lately and they were so squished in the bins I couldn't see what I had. I have the yardage cuts (more than I thought I had LOL) in a large tote folded and standing up so I can see all of those and then the FQ's are in 3 bins arranged by color standing up so I can see them. And that's just batiks. I have very little other fabric so I just folded it on a shelf by color. Wonder how long this will last?

Off to the Bat Cave; with all the encouragement I'm going to do that block with the (bleeping) y-seam. Will let you know how it goes!

Can you tell me what's specific about the 30's prints? Is it the colour, the design or both?

Fabric is called re-production prints of the 30s, running the patterns and colors that were used in the 1930s and 1940s. Quilt in a Day has them. I can get them at the LQS, too.

Breakfast of waffles, eggs and pork link sausage is all done now. Men are at work on the Canning Pantry in the garage. Now to find something to fix for lunch and supper and thaw it from the freezer and make cinnamon rolls. Have a good day.
