Thanks for the new inspiration!

jaba 07-01-2017 09:35 AM

All printed out, have family here so it may be awhile or I'll have to have a "grandma" time out :)

Oksewnsew 07-01-2017 10:00 AM

LOLO Jaba, I know what you mean about 'grandma time out'...My 11 yr old grandson has been with me for the last 2 weeks...He's going home later, I may not know what to do with myself...haha (bet I find something tho). He's gone to the new Transformers movie with his uncle Scott, so it's quiet around here for a bit. Glad ya'all like the blocks..

zennia 07-01-2017 12:28 PM

Interesting block. I would love to join the group but i do not know how to post pics. I am going to see if I can make one.

Nice blocks! I did mine this afternoon as a break from my major project...a queen size pp "Compass Roses" top (This afternoon I finished putting together the center, which is about 60" x 60"..pic below).

On Auntie's Puzzle, there is a minor error in the directions. You do make four units of an HST and Color one square, as noted at the beginning of page 2...but two must be as shown and two are in reverse (HST faces a different direction). It will make sense when you put together the top and bottom rows.

Very pretty Chasezzz. Boy, you are fast..lolo Lovely quilt you are doing..

Zennia, you are welcome to join.. As you go along you will learn how to post pics. At least post that you have made your block(s)..

Thanks Barb! That is very useful. 15 blocks so far!

Oksewnsew 07-01-2017 05:13 PM

How nice of you, Barb, to post that - I've had to send several thru, their PM's...Nice to have all of them in one place.

Barb in Louisiana 07-01-2017 05:27 PM

You are ahead of me Chasezzz. I hope the posting does help someone out Oksewnsew. These are interesting new blocks. Of course, I am making them worse, because I love HST as a single piece of fabric and I just don't think these blocks are going to let me remodel them. We'll see......

Hello everyone! I'm new to quilting board and am looking forward to jumping in to the Quilting Bee. Right now, I'm feeling ambitious and am going to try to "catch up"... we'll see how that actually goes!

Thanks Barb for the easy reference of all the blocks. I look forward to "meeting" all of you!

Oksewnsew 07-01-2017 08:55 PM

Welcome Jayne, I do hope you enjoy it, we have a bunch of very nice stitchers/ladies here. I don't believe we have any gentlemen in it yet. Just follow the beginning statement and you should do fine..

Libster 07-02-2017 02:35 AM

Hi, Jayne! Welcome! Everybody is nice and friendly here. Just jump in and if you have any questions-ask away. I love all the pictures posted. It's amazing what a difference different fabrics make in how a block looks.

carrot 07-02-2017 06:23 AM

Chases---WOW!!! Barb thanks for posting all the blocks!! And Diane nice block. I have company through the 4th so will not get to my blocks until later Happy sewing everyone!!!

WMUTeach 07-02-2017 08:46 AM

Thank you for the list. I am not part of the group. Guess, I missed this one or did not bother to check it out to know what it was. Any way I will lurk about if that is OK.

Chasezzz 07-02-2017 09:24 AM

WMUTeach...don't just lurk...join in! You make the blocks for yourself. Just post pictures to show that you did them. You can start now with July's blocks (you have all month to do them), or go to the beginning of the list that Barb has posted above and start there. It's just for the fun of making the blocks and sharing them. If you are industrious, you can catch up. Or just start now and continue for the rest of the year. Totally up to you.

Just Jan 07-02-2017 03:49 PM

Thanks for the new blocks. I love them both. I had a terrible time finding the blocks this time, but finally I have them now! Still not caught up due to my rotary cutter sliced finger, but its getting better! Nice block DianeR. Chasezzz your blocks and new quilt are lovely! Welcome Jayne.

Mary Christine 07-02-2017 06:27 PM

Love the blocks for July and the bonus block as well. But since I've yet to do June's blocks, I have to play catch-up again! Seems that life keeps getting in the way. How did I ever get anything done before I retired - that is the question. Oh well, you ladies are very patient with me and I do appreciate that. Happy 4th, everyone!

Very nice Diane, I like this, its restful looking to me. Barb, how thoughtful and wonderful of you to post all of them so far. I have a lot of catching up to do also. Finally can look at the postings, though, quietly because I am at work, then save the block addresses and then mail them to myself at home so I can use them. Can only open quiltboard at work, so sadly have to sneak it in to read. Anyway, fun blocks, love HSTs.

Hey Jayne, welcome aboard, its a fun bunch and they are very tolarate of anything, I'm proof of that, lol.

So I missed something, is there a bonus block each month now, or has there been just one so far....I confuse easy, especially when the computer is not co operating, lol.

The only bonus block has been in June so far. Wonder what July will have??? Only our fearless leader knows for sure.

Thank You Barb for posting all the blocks. I love making HST'S so I am going to start with July and try to catch up. I will pm hostess so I can join.

Happy "almost" 4th of July! I'm home alone for the week as my husband is on a rafting trip in Idaho. I am teaching summer school so I was not able to go. The good part is I have lots of quilting time! Here is my first block. I really struggled with the flying geese as I have never made them with triangles before. (I always use squares). Any thoughts? Other than one missing point, I'm satisfied and excited to make more! I'm thinking I'm going to use all shades of blue and make a "picnic" blanked. Maybe add some red cornerstones in the sashing... but seeing how I only have one block so far, I have plenty of time to think about that!!

Welcome. I think the block looks good. The blues will make a pretty quilt. I am a bad person at not following directions. I do my FG with squares no matter what the directions say. Now I may end up with the quilt police after me. In fact, I should admit that I redraw the blocks in EQ and use my colors in them. Sometimes, I omit seams....oh no!!! But I like what I have done so far.

Here are this month's blocks. Didn't want to cut up the roses in the second one so ended up doing it with Y seams. Not perfect but finished! Very pleased with myself as this is the first time that I have managed to keep up with a BOM!

I agree, I use my own preferred method which is using squares for Flying Geese. I often omit seams when possible, too. I'm not afraid of the quilt police because I have two dogs that spend as much time in my quilting area as I do, and they would run them off! Jayne I think your block looks fine! Nice job and nice colors. Zinnia, what do you mean you will "PM hostess" so you can join?

Oksewnsew 07-03-2017 10:59 AM

JayneW, very pretty...looks good from this end. ;o)

It doesn't really matter how you do pcs, just so they end up looking like the block. I used to be terrified of FG, but now I'll do whatever the pattern calls for.

Pippa, I love your blocks, gorgeous (of course I'm a PINK fanatic, lolo)..

Just Jan, when someone wants to join, it is asked that they PM me to let me know. I have an Excel spreadsheet I keep quilters listed on and the blocks they make. Just easier to keep up that way.

Have a great holiday ya'all..Mine will be quiet, I hope..

Libster 07-03-2017 11:03 AM

My blocks are cut, laying on my machine just waiting for my lazy self to get in there. I should be in there sewing, instead I'm on here. And I am definitely with y'all! I omit seams when possible and make my FG with squares too! I am all for simplification. Loving these new blocks.

Yay! Block two done. Now I just have to do January through June! :o But the yard is calling me...

Just Jan, Barb and Libster... thanks for the "ok" to vary from the instructions! It will be a nice stretch for myself to try to figure out how to make little changes to the pattern based upon my preferences. Pippa, beautiful blocks. Nice job keeping the triangles one piece, I thought about it, but chickened out!

OKSEWNSO, I have to share... I hope you will see the humor in this... Since being on Chemo, I have developed what my PT and the nurses call "Chemo Brain." I either forget stuff or take a different meaning from it! They say its one of the temporary effects of the Chemo. They tell me this will pass and I certainly hope so. Well, when I read that post about she would PM hostess, I read it that she would become an evening (PM) hostess of some sort! I wondered if she was hosting another swap somewhere or maybe teaching/ hosting evening classes at her local quilt shop! Now isn't that just pathetic, but funny! Its embarrassing at times, but if I didn't laugh I'd cry! :o

Just Jan, with what you've just been through and still going through, it's certainly okay to see a different meaning at times. Nothing to be embarrassed about at all.
I finally got myself in there to sew my blocks up for this month. Wouldn't you know, when I finished them and went to take pictures of them, it is absolutely pouring rain and really dark out there. My pics look dark but my blocks are done! Ta-Da!!

Thanks. Your blocks are beautiful, as always. I just love that orange floral and once again you have perfect points!

Libster 07-03-2017 03:12 PM

Thanks, Just Jan. I pin and press every seam as it's sewn. I think that helps me get my points in line.

I'm keeping with my Good Neighbor line and introducing some of the darker colors in this one. I'm really enjoying this swap. I've done mostly one block a month but when I have time I do both. Here's one of them.

HAPPY 4TH everyone. Just Jan - LOLO that's ok, I didn't think anything about your statement, I just thought maybe you didn't know new Bee'ers should PM me first, not a strict requirement, but it helps to know who's who...

Ladies, your blocks are so pretty. Sauki, glad to see you post again, missed you. Jayne, the black & gray will make a stunning quilt. Libster, I love your Avatar block, did you make it? Neat pattern.

Here are my blocks - keep forgetting to post..

Chasezzz, I love your Compass Roses. You must have been hours on that center and it is beautiful. I have quilted for 37 years and I don't think I would have the nerve to attempt something that intricate.
