Dotty - glad to read you are on the mend!

Teen - bummer that you'll need to stop at the LQS - big sigh. :p

Today is a telework day, which means I can get a couple of hours sewing in before logging in to work (time normally spent getting ready and to work). So I should be able to get the Snake River quilt finished and off the frame, and maybe even mount the ribbon quilt. Yesterday was a long, busy day at work, so I need some sewing time!

The CMIYC quilt will not get on the frame for some time. I'm going to concentrate on getting the ones I am willing to part with done, and that is one I plan on keeping. I've found that is a down side to not making quilts for specific people, I sometimes get attached and don't want to part with them. So then I have to have them a while and eventually I get less attached and then they can go to a new home. Better for them to be the only one, or one of a few at someone else's house, than to be one of a stack in the closet at mine.

Anael 05-01-2018 02:32 AM

LOL Macebaby, I hear you. I change the quilts on my bed quite often so all of them are used.

I have a problem with one of my quilts. It's a wall hanging or table topper, whatever. But it's not happening as the fabric stretches while quilting.....never had that before. The embroidered parts pucker and won't lay flat. I tossed it, took it out of the trash bin again and now I don't know what to do. I posted it on a facebook group and of course everyone is telling me to finish it. I've been staring at it today and I am not happy with it. I will take a few pictures and post them here.

Anael 05-01-2018 06:09 AM

We have a Facebook group where people can sell their fabric and other craft stuff.
I'm really getting annoyed when people ask.........is it real quiting fabric? Wow.......it's quilting fabric when I decide I am going to make a quilt with it. I know what they mean but hey, back in the days......LOL
You know what I mean. Why does it have to be expensive fabric, 44" wide, from a quiltshop?
You can't quilt with anything else........ha!
Is it just me?

Teen 05-01-2018 01:20 PM

No, it's not just you. Though, I will say I'm kind of a fabric snob but quilting is quilting regardless of quality or blend of fabric. Regarding wall hanging/table runner. You can always set it aside and look at it 3 mos from now. And, if the embroider is easy to cut around, you could cut them out and make mini wall hangings or mug rugs or pot holders. That is a lot of work to just toss.

Macybaby....if my DH didn't like so many of my quilts and say to me "don't give that away", I would have less on hand. Some, I tell him straight out that it's a gift so he knows in advance. I've only made one quilt for our king bed but I like Anael idea of changing out quilt tops.

Another busy day for us....now just chilling in the RV and BBQ'ing din din.

Macybaby, Beautiful!! Love all the color!

Thanks Teen, great idea to set it aside. It's hanging over a chair right now. I can make some pillow covers out of it, even the way it is now, half quilted :)

What's on my bed now? The Sylvia Farmer's Bride (Sylvia and Farmer's Wife blocks combined LOL) and the one I made in honor of my mom. First picture is Sylvia and second is Ode to my Mom. It's still cold at night here though temps will rise again in the next few days.

Blue Bell 05-02-2018 03:13 AM

Aneal, Two awesome quilts. Love them both. The second one would look lovely on your bed for summer.

Anael 05-02-2018 03:26 AM

Thank you Blue Bell!

DottyD 05-02-2018 04:19 AM

Anael - just love both of them !!!!

Anael 05-02-2018 04:24 AM

Thank you Dotty!

Macybaby 05-02-2018 04:58 AM

Anael, those are both lovely! I am really drawn to the second one. I'm looking forward to getting caught up on my quilting so I can start on my "Insane and Jane" quilts.

Anael 05-02-2018 05:13 AM

Thank you Macebaby!
Looking forward to seeing your Insane Jane blocks :D

Anael - I love both of your quilts, especially the 2nd one. You use such bright cheery fabrics - I love that in a quilt.

I change out my quilts on my bed very frequently, about every other month, so they all get a turn to show off. The others are on a quilt rack at the end of the bed. I have a twin bed in our office/guest room that my granddaughter uses when she spends the night, and have about 3 twin size quilts that take turns in there as well, with the extras on another quilt rack. We are considering switching from a queen-sized bed to a king-size soon, hopefully over the summer, so I'm glad Sylvia is so large and will grace that new bed.

I only have 1 new block to show, so will save it till I have more. Meanwhile, Anael showed some beautiful pictures recently of her homeland, so thought I would show you what beautiful east Tennessee looks like.

Teen 05-02-2018 02:56 PM

Anael....gorgeous quilts, as usual. I'm going to start calling you the "Sampler Girl" since you totally rock on samplers.

Macybaby....if I know you, you'll have that pile of quilts quilted by Friday. Lol!

Donna.....love Tennessee and that picture is gorgeous!!!

Since we are sharing pictures..... My view from my property (I'm standing in our workshop)... And second pic is me on the Boise River. This is Southwest Idaho....

Anael 05-02-2018 08:52 PM

Oh my, what a view!!!!!!!!!! Stunning!!!!! And Tennessee!!!!!!! I wish I could see all that and more!

Thanks for the compliments on my quilts :) You're all so kind!
Teen, I like samplers as I get bored easily! Nice to see you 'in person'!

Macybaby 05-03-2018 04:34 AM

you all are making me jealous - I live in the flat area of SD, you can see for miles, but there is not much to see . . .

though I think the place looks pretty good once we got it all fixed up.

This was what it looked like when we bought it, not bad but not country farmhouse either.

I had a wonderful view when we lived in WI. DH and I plan on moving to southern GA when we retire, but that is 8-10 years down the road so that plan my change. Our two kids both live in Atlanta right now.

I am halfway done with the ribbon quilt - another king size quilt so it's take a while. I'll have to figure out backings for the 12 I have upstairs, and that will probably take a whole day. At least I've started cutting the bindings at the same time I get the top done, since it may be a long time from completed floppy to binding, and I didn't want to accidentally use up the fabric I needed in the interim.

Teen 05-03-2018 06:31 AM

Oh..Macybaby.....your home is beautiful! You guys really did a lot to it. My family is in Georgia, as well. They are just west of Atlanta in Carolton. We thought about retiring there because we love the south but the humidity and hurricane/thunderstorm/tornado weather changed our mind. Tennessee was also considered until we decided on Idaho. Lots of beautiful country to pick from in the US.

I learned early on to cut my binding right away, too. Though, I don't typically let mine sit, sometimes it takes a couple of weeks before I bind..

I am anxious to get back home and finish my SBS. I keep looking at my applique pieces and I get excited to work on it.

Macybaby 05-03-2018 07:07 AM

I'm fine with trading Hurricane/thunderstorm/tornado for what we currently have, which is Blizzard/thunderstorm/tornado.

Mostly I'm sick of snow . . .

Anael 05-03-2018 07:10 AM

Lovely home Macebaby!! I could live there even when there's not much to see :)

I still need to learn I need binding and not use the fabric in another project (like I do quite often ha!). Maybe one day.......one can always hope :D :D

DonnaPea 05-03-2018 11:39 AM

That was fun - seeing your homes. Macybaby - y'all did quite a renovation there! Are those lilacs blooming behind the white fence? And Teen, I love your view and your river. You are right - there are so many beautiful places in this country. Never been to Idaho, would like to take an extended Western trip sometime in the future.

Anael 05-03-2018 12:18 PM

I'm going on another bike ride this Saturday so I will take more pictures and share them with you. I love seeing where you all live and one can only wish......maybe one day I'm going to make it to the USA :) I would love to see at least a part of your country!

Teen 05-03-2018 03:26 PM

I'll have a guest bedroom ready for you, Anael.

I'm exhausted! Final inspection for DH's workshop w/bathroom is Monday. Yea!! We have a lot to do still before then but we are close.

Maybe heading home early next week. I love RV'ing but I'm ready for my own bed. Lol...

Anael 05-03-2018 09:50 PM

Awwwww thank you Teen!!

Macybaby 05-04-2018 04:46 AM

I've got the king size rainbow quilt off the frame! I still have 4 smaller quilts in the shed, and then the 12 still in the house. So that is only 4 of the twenty done, but two of them were king size, and of the rest, the SBS is the largest, but not king! Several of the rest are lap size and many of them can be quilted in a few hours.

Kind of nice to get the monsters out of the way first, though my stack of "to bind" is growing.

Anael 05-04-2018 05:00 AM

Once you did bind them you're all done!! I'm proud of you, finishing your UFO's!!
It's not 'only 4 of 20 done' but 'already 4 of 20 done, only 16 left'!!

Judith1005 05-04-2018 08:21 AM

Anael, I love your latest 2 quilts you shared. But, I really favor the 2nd one. I love all the applique and, I love the green border. They are both beautiful.

I love all your photos of your homes. I live in a regular old suburban area. (Pretty boring, actually.) But, I still love living here. Just wish my grands lived a little closer. Oh well, as in life, you can't have everything.

I have had 4 quilts returned to me from the quilter's in the last few months. Now, I need to have a binding party and get them finished up. One is as old as 2013. Probably the oldest one I sent off. The next is a 2014 start date. They are nothing as intricate as what you ladies have complete. But, It is with a sense of accomplishment that they are at least quilted and awaiting binding. Which thank the lord, I had the foresight to cut and have ready when I mailed them out. I am finding, that I have used different fabrics that were supposed to be used up to finishing several quilts. So, I had to be a bit creative. All's fair in scrappy's is the way I look at it.

Anael 05-04-2018 09:05 AM

Thank you Judith!

Looks like some of you are having a binding party :D Nice to hear the UFO pile is shrinking.......haha. Not here though :(

Anael 05-04-2018 11:54 AM

Does any of you know the Splendid Sampler?
I saw a finished quilt and thought it's great. When I saw some of the blocks I remembered I started downloading and making the first few and lost interest because of the difference in the blocks. I regret I didn't get them all......isn't that always the case? Silly me. Now I have to order the book if I want the patterns. In the mean time there's the Splendid Sampler 2, not yet available but you can pre order the book. It will be available in October. So.........anyone?

Teen 05-04-2018 08:23 PM

Judith....I've seen your work so I know your quilts are lovely. Congrats on getting these ready for binding.

Anael... That sampler is adorable. So many cute blocks...a lot more applique blocks. Some of the paper piecing blocks look a bit more challenging. I couldn't tell how big the blocks are but it looks like only 100? I am not in a position to begin another sampler this size but I bookmarked it to look at later. Just love the blocks.

Teen 05-04-2018 08:32 PM

Oh..thought I'd mention that the 2018 Countdown to Peducka blocks (36) on AQS blog may be removed and become chargeable this weekend. It's a really pretty quilt tho I'm going to do different colors. Quick and simple sampler but still it looked cool to me.

Anael 05-04-2018 09:19 PM

Thanks Teen, I downloaded them all. Great project, who's in? :D :D :D

Anael 05-04-2018 09:42 PM

I just noticed the 2017 Christmas Countdown is also still available. Those are 4" finished blocks....bit tiny :) I might download the blocks when I'm back from my ride. I should leave now otherwise I'll miss the train!!
I will post some photos when I'm home again. Have a nice day ladies!

I promised you photos of today's ride. Here they are. The first picture is near the starting point of the ride. The 4th is on the other side of the Afsluitdijk ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuiderzee_Works ). This part of the ride wasn't fun as there were a countless number of flies and other flying objects......YUK YUK!!! When I arrived at photo #4 the fun began :D :D

Macybaby 05-05-2018 11:13 AM

Are those tulips? That would be amazing to see in person.

I'm a bit of a gear head - would love to see pictures of your bikes!

Yes those are tulips. I was amazed to see them there. I didn't know they were growing bulbs there too.
Here's a pic of my bike, no close up though.

Teen 05-05-2018 04:24 PM

Gorgeous, Anael! Such a beautiful country. Tulips are amazing. Love your bike....you go, girl! What's the story behind the statue?

We have finished with the work for this trip. Final inspection scheduled this week. We are heading home and should be there on Thursday. I spent my birthday today hanging drywall.. Ugh!! But, my DH has promised me Tuesday quilt shop hop to make up for it.... Such a keeper....

Happy Birthday Teen! Your's is one week and a day before mine. Yes, I get Mom's Day and B day together quite often.

Nice bike Anael! My Mom and Dad became avid bicyclists after Dad retired from farming. They had an RV and took their bikes with them and put a lot of miles on. My Dad continued to ride in the summers, though Mom quit when her Parkenson's got too bad.

Teen - here is a few pictures just for you!
