You know the odd thing is that the women I knew didn't even get insulted about those ads and not only that, they read books and articles about how to better please the husband so he'd be happy. Mother worked from the time she got up until she went to bed. Daddy worked hard too, but his day was over when he got home. And we all accepted that. I wish mother could have had a quiting time. I started my adult live with the same expectations as my mother, then about 1974 women were in the work force which was in addition to their home responsibilities. My sons' wives wouldn't put up with that for 5 min. And good for them (but the sons seem to enjoy taking part in the house work and raising the kids. so good for them too.)

I think it is still going on today. Look at the typical woman's magazine - articles on how to take care of your kids, your house, your garden, your health, your job, your husband's health, your marriage, the environment, Plus lose weight and make the perfect chocolate cake- it's like women are supposed to do it all.
When have you ever seen articles like that in a men's magazine? Sometimes in a waiting room I read Mens Health or Mens Journal - they are a lot more fun to read.

However, when you meet a woman who keeps a dirty house, whose kids have no manners and their clothes look terrible, whose family always seems to catch the first virus that comes to town, who is a bad cook, even if she is getting regular promotions at work. what is your first reaction?
