Alone at last!

Blue Birds are round steak, cut into squares, pounded thin then you place a big slice of onion and two strips of bacon with salt and pepper on each one and roll the square up and secure them with toothpicks and bake them in the oven. Serve with mashed potatoes. Don't know why they are called Blue Birds, but my mom made them when we were kids, it is a bit of work, but worth it. Right now the house smells wonderful.

You are not alone. I work full time outside the house and my husband is retired and has alzheimers. He lost his license so I have to take him every where. He plays golf on Saturday mornings and this is the only alone time I get. I am up early on Saturday to do my chores and then the rest of the morning is mine until he comes home. I'm not complaining, I just like the quiet sometimes.
Enjoy your day!

When he is home I wish he would go somewhere and when he is gone I wish he was home. Guess I am hard to please! LOL[/quote]
Me to, although I work full time and he is a long distance truck driver. I enjoy my ability to call my own time, not make dinner if I don't want to and sew till midnight if I do. But at the same time he's not here to share my sewing victories or defeats. But do enjoy your time however you wish and makes you happy - "when Momma happy, everyone is happy!"

It is all about what you are used to! My dad and my husband traveled a lot so I grew up being alone at home without dad (as a kid) or a husband later for weeks at a time. When Joe retired I nearly went insane. He did things like rearrange the kitchen (I am a lefty and he thought it was backwards!)while I was at work. I have to admit he was a fantastic cook so I gave him the kitchen. We got busy and found him some bridge players since he really didn't have hobbies. It all worked out and now that he is no longer living I miss hearing him sing in the shower and scream "Sharon". Still, I love being home alone and I am thankful I was sort of trained to entertain myself but I do miss having that "man around the house"!
