Default Amazon Doing a Delivery Service

Amazon is now delivering some of their own packages, and not using the normal USPS, Ups or FedEx delivery. And they are delivering on Sundays too.

We don't have Prime. I ordered a small something from Amazon a few days ago and this morning I got the Amazon notification on my Kindle that the package was out for delivery. It didn't say who was delivering it. I just thought "yeah right. It's Sunday." About six hours later I got another Amazon notification saying " see where your package is on the map. Your are only 10 deliveries away! " I looked at the map and sure enough their little GPS thingy was on its way here.

It totally weirded out both me and Hubby. We were not sure what to expect.
About half an hour later, a white rental van rolled up our driveway. Hubby stepped out to speak to the delivery woman. He asked who does she work for (driving a rental van) and if Sunday deliveries are a new thing with Amazon. She said yep, she works for Amazon and it's an easy way to make money!

So, this is going to be the new thing. I'm just glad it wasn't a drone delivery! I hope I never get one of those.

An Amazon facility opened up not far from here last year, so that might be why things are changing. I have mixed feelings about it all. I don't think it's safe for a Delivery vehicle to have its location/GPS published. It could easily become a target, just like the old Wild West stagecoaches. People buy valuable and expensive things like jewelry and electronics off Amazon.

I have been getting deliveries from Amazon lately with their own vans marked with their logo. Sunday deliveries I have been getting for over a year. Many time via USPS.

Yup, I get Sunday delivery of packages, usually USPS, and recently I’ve noticed the white vans delivering packages these past few weeks. It’s the new thing in several areas, but I agree, I don’t think I want a drone delivering my package.

Our USPS still delivers for Amazon, including Sundays. My brother's delivery company delivers for Amazon, but I'm not sure his trucks have his logo or theirs. Just wait til that drone pulls up to your door! :-)

Amazon is trying lots of different delivery/return methods. In our area, returns can be made to a Kohls store, even if it was not purchased related to Kohls

I have had deliveries made on Sundays also from Amazon by someone driving a white van. I'm not paying for this service (don't have Prime), so it's something Amazon does on it's own. While it's nice to have things quickly I can't see how they are making a profit.

Kohls signed up to help Amazon out with returns thinking that as long as you are in their store to return something you will buy something from them. Guess they are thinking "profit" margin.

I didn't know USPS delivers on Sundays. We have never had USPS work Sunday wherever I've lived. Is it a city thing maybe? I've always lived kind of "rural" . Very interesting!

We've had those same deliveries. It seems that someday we won't ever have to leave our homes!
And yes, on Sundays too.
NZ- you must have had your baby, right? I looked but didn't see any post. (off subject but thought I would ask)
