How about Grandmother? It can always be changed later as the child grows and begins to talk.

Being a step myself I think it is horrible that this discussion even has to happen. I think as the grandchildren come along people just need to let the past be the past and move on. Having more than one set of grandparents on both sides just means more people to love and nurture the child. with that said my children, myself and their stepfather sat down together and decided what our names would be. I am Mayme and he is Pappy, and I hate to think that this would have to change when my stepson starts having children. I will not have my grandchild from him calling me by my first name. I think it is disrepectful and cold. Even my grown grandchildren call their stepfather's parents grammy and grampy, but the grandchildren call them big Poppie and big Bebe. Maybe we're just lucky to have everyone accept everyone and accept the love each other is able to give. My mother is GiGi for great grandmother.

My 4 yr old g-dtr calls me "fitten granda". She's pronouncing it a little better now so now I'm "fishin' grandma" because I'm the one where she can go fishing here at my house on the lake.

I would use your quilting name - Mamagus. I like it - is it just for this board or does Matt use it also?

My two cents worth: ask your step son.

My kids called my step mother Grandma Mary.

My ex sister in law told me that they decided the grand kids should just say Grandma/Grandpa + first name. With so many divorces and remarriages, my two grand nephews have 8 grandparents! They feel really special at Christmas!

My step children's children just call me by my first name, like their parents do. We have five children all together and some call me grandma and some by my first name. Doesn't present a problem at all.
