"Boob Tube", in Australia, is a stretchy, skimpy, circlet of material that is worn around the body to just cover the boobs.It wouldn't hide anything! In just a similar shift in our cultures, "thongs" are the flip-flops we wear on our feet whilst at the beach.

Umm, yeah....and it was offensive enough in 'that' context.
Nursing moms should be very careful that their covered up feeding babies are not re-breathing at the same time.

It'll be a blessing when we come to the place that breastfeeding is completely standard behavior and "discreetly covered" does not mean making such a display of "I'm nursing but you'll never know it because I'm sitting here wearing this weird bib/drape/shawl/cover-up that's overheating my baby but I'm being "very" politically correct."

I'm going to get back with my daughter on your comments. As rowdy as this kid is now (he's not due until Oct) I'm not sure she'll have very good luck keeping him contained in a cover while nursing. LOL.

Wear a shirt that buttons in the front keep the top buttoned and unbutton from the bottom then wear a tube top under. Draws less attention.

When my friends and I were young and nursing babies, we managed to stay covered, without any special garb. Usually just had a lightweight receiving blanket, slung over a shoulder. I used to nurse my baby in public and no one ever gave me a second glance. Guess we were just a super-genius generation!
