Can you explain how you can qualify for a discount on the utility bill?

Sleep apnea is dangerous. My husband told me I quit breathing while I was sleeping besides the snoring and I was always tired. I did a sleep study and got a CPAP. It took a little getting used to but I think it was mostly me! I feel so much better, am more rested, and don't get up during the night to use the bathroom anymore. You need to make up your mind that you are going to do this. I use the nasal pillows and really like them. I travel with the machine which is a pain, but both of us get a better night's sleep. Good luck!

I started on CPAP therapy 5 years ago - and have been wearng one of those sexy looking masks since then ... LOL I won't sleep without it - and the few times I have (when tent camping) I'm amazed at how awful I feel - tired and sluggish. I use a full face mask - which took some getting used to - but like it better than using a chin strap.

My husband was dx with severe sleep apnea about 10 years ago. They said after his study that he was getting about 45 minutes of sleep per night, and that was it. The very first time he put on the CPAP mask (during a second study at the hospital) he was out like a light within minutes and it's been smooth sailing ever since! The machine he has now is very quiet and his snoring is completely gone - if I can hear any noise at all I wake him up to adjust the seal.
Man, I do not miss those years before his diagnosis. He was so exhausted all the time, but so was I - turns out I was holding my breath in my sleep whenever he stopped breathing, and when I ran out of air I'd smack him so he'd breathe. Very scary. Now that he wears the mask every night and every nap - anytime he sleeps, basically - our lives have completely changed.
For those with noisy machines, have you tried running a fan in the room to cover it with white noise?

My DH also has sleep apnea. I used to wake up at night and realize he wasn't breathing and have to shake him to get him to breathe. Very scary stuff. He is doing fine now. But I have developed a severe snoring problem ( my roomies at the last quilt retreat confirmed my DH's comments about my snoring!) and have been exhausted during the day so I go tonight for a sleep study. I'm kind of creeped out about strangers watching me sleep...
