I recently had to have one of my furry friends put to sleep and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I know it was the right thing to do, but Boots had been my handsome boy for almost 17 yrs. I still have another furry friend, but it's still not the same. Thank goodness I have my sewing to keep my mind occupied and my fingers busy. It's really helped me thru this difficult time and each day is getting better. Also I've had some comforting emails from another board member that have helped tremendously. As a pet lover of all kinds, we do consider our pets as family members and the loss of one is stressful. I'm sew glad that I have quilting and this board to fall back on!

Oh, I'm so sorry! Losing a pet really is heartbreaking. It's funny, I usually find myself not wanting to sew after something hard, as I then have too much time to think, and want all the distractions I can find.

I'm sorry you're going through something hard, as am I (I'm just not really willing to put it out there). The fellowship and camaraderie really do help to bring us back up when we're feeling down.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your beloved pet. I too lost one after 17 years. Loki. A friend in Australia sent me a redwork block and i started a quilt in honor of Loki.

the funny thing was, the redwork showed a girl holding 3 cats. We now have 3 cats!!! a mamma cat who came to live in our back yard and her two girls. they are inside cats now!
Make a quilt to remember your pet by, it does help.

I am really sorry to hear about the loss of you friend. Being through this so many times through the years I know how you feel. There is an empty space in you heart and your home. Years after I have lost a pet I still talk about them and can almost feel them being with me again. You never get over the loss, but diversions, such as your quilting will help ease the pain. It seems that a lot of members here have pets, so I am sure not one doesn't feel your pain. They become such a precious member of our lives and family. Our hearts are with you.

I lost my furry baby after 18 1/2 years. This was 5 years ago and I have 2 new (age 5) furry babies. When Punky died I made a wall hanging in her memory. I took it down during Christmas.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Its difficult to lose a furry family member, especially when you have to make the decision to put them down. I had to let go of Oskar several years ago, and its still saddening, but it does get better with time.

So sorry you lost your furry one. Our cat was 18 when we put him down this past fall, so I understand what it's like to have a furry friend for so many years and then all of a sudden, they're gone. Time will help you. In the mean time, we'll give you as much support as we can. :D

((((HUGS)))), for all that your going through, having kissed my Bitsy girl goodbye, till Rainbow Bridge on the third, I'm sending you tons of hugs to help see you through.
I sooo understand the loss of your Boots. It just hurts like heck! We have our loved pets, and then we have those that just have our heart, lock, stock and barrel.
Bitsy loved all animals, as i have two kitties too. I know she and your Boots are becoming acquainted and keeping each other company as the 'newbies'.
So sorry for your loss, dear.

hugs, ladygen, whatever it is. This quiltboard family really cares about each other, and Mousie doesn't want to see anyone hurting or sad, although those days do come. I hope we all feel better with the coming Spring.

So sad for you loss! No doubt, everyone who's lost a pet can feel your pain.

Hardest thing I ever did was put down first one furry baby and, then a couple years later, her sister. I try to remember that, when it's time, its the last loving thing we can do for them. Ever since, I haven't been able to watch tv shows, ads, etc., that show animal abuse. I was sensitive before but now I'm super sensitive.

Hope time heals the pain and leaves only the good memories.
