Can any one please tell me how to stop a boisterous kitten from trying to put her paws under the sewing machine needle when I am sewing. I have tried almost everything and don't really want to lock her up every time I go to sew. she is forever jumping up onto the machine cabinet knocking things every where and sewing with her near is a dangerous adventure.

She needs a motion toy nearby. Maybe find something that winds up?

Lots of kitty toys. Kittens really have to be kept busy.

She has a few but that does not stop her getting on the machine while I am sewing. she even walks on my computer and then puts her paws inside the printer if I am using it. Thanks for your helpful information.

I have to use a spray bottle of water when catasstrophy is in my sewing room all i have to do is pick it up and hes gone. works every time . he has very long hair it gets everywhere so i do what i must with out harming him.

I know Misty hates water. she comes into the bathroom but moves away from the bath when I wash myself off. She makes me laugh seeing her move to the doorway well out of splash range. I will get a bottle and try that as well. Thanks.

A spray bottle filled with water and a squirt every time she jumps up. Won't take long to stop the behavior. I am not a cat person, so not the best person to advise. A cat would not be allowed in the sewing room; too many dangers around for a cat. My dogs are not allowed in the sewing room.

My cats rarely bother the needle anymore, but I also just shake my water bottle when they get a bit too close. Of course, they will have to have been sprayed with the water at some point to know that it's something unpleasant that they want to avoid. Since you won't want to spray water around your machine, you'll have to find other opportunities to spritz them when they're 'naughty'. It won't take but a time or two and they'll learn quickly. After that, just shaking the bottle is enough, you won't have to spritz.

I love my kitties and don't like doing this, but it doesn't hurt them, they just don't like it. And in the end, you are doing what you must to keep them with you but still safe. please just remember if you do spritz to keep it a fine mist. No hard sprays in the face. (I'm sure you wouldn't do this anyway, but I do see it recommended here and other places sometimes.)

this is what I would try too...cured a cat from jumping on counters...he hated it LOL
