I buy very few patterns. I've had EQ since 2010 and create my quilts in it. Writing directions for personal use can be time consuming depending on the pattern. I work in an LQS and one of the hardest things for me to learn was to follow a pattern when doing shop samples! It is very frustrating when there are errors in the instructions, too. A pet peeve of mine is when a customer comes in and says, "I want to make this quilt" (she saw it on Pinterest). "How much fabric will I need?" Really, I'm not your design service! Okay rant, over.
That being said, I am trying to finish a UFO started +10 years ago. A simple tablerunner with angled ends, that I said "I don't need the pattern". It got put aside because I had trouble figuring it out; now that I have I am running out of fabric, and don't want to spend the time looking for some. I wish I would've spent the $5 then. I would've enjoyed it for a long time. Lesson learned!
