Do you still have hummingbirds?

Mine have been gone for 3 weeks & then this week I had 2 for a couple of days. I guess they just stop by for food & rest before heading their way south. I just put the last of my food in feeder & will leave it for a few days just incase I get more guest. I sure will miss them over the winter.

We have lots, estimating over 100. Come back every year. I think we must be in the migratory path. Had 11 feeders, added some this year. Refill every other day, some days, every day. We have only a few now. I would say under 20.

I have loved the stories of the hummers! I went through 40 four pound bags of sugar this summer, filling my 6 feeders twice a day, making sugarwater every day. Thank goodness I purchased sugar last November when it was on sale for $1.49 per bag. A couple of weeks ago my market had sugar for $1.78 (regularly $3.49 per bag) for a 4 pound bag with a limit of 4, so hubby, son and grandkids helped me purchase 57 bags bags during the week long sale. I sure don't want the hummers to go hungrey next summer!

They are still hitting mine here in West TN but you can tell they are starting to slow down a bit. I think I will put the feeder up this next week and let them find their way back to Mexico and have a good winter there. Although the local paper stated we have a few species that stay here all winter and they encouraged you to leave your feeder out. I might look into this but I would hate to freeze the few that need to go home because of the feeder still out.
