I grew up wearing garter belts and then girdles with hose clips. When I found pantyhose I thought I was in heaven. The years have passed and I've changed shapes. Now I'm glad I can wear slacks everywhere and no longer have to wear any of that. Am I old? Oh yes and glad to be so. And yes, despite my denials and regrets, I've turned into my mother .... but with a more optimistic/positive attitude hopefully.

A suit demands panty hose IMHO unless your legs are perfect. I remember going to a business meeting at the country club. This woman had a beautiful expensive suit on with no hose. Veins, tattoos, white, cellulite. Ruined that suit.

Don't ask me why I watched "what Not to Wear" today at lunch - - I really dislike that show. But they didn't even discuss hosiery of any kind with their client - they never do. Must be the fashion trend train flew past me again.

Believe it or not, I used to wear two half slips or one full with a half slip under to prevent the curse of the see thru dress.

What Not to Wear does discuss Bra's though!! another thing. I still find myself looking into store front glass to see how I look to others. something not many younger women do these days. I find my posture is better, etc.

First impression is still very important. Even the people that say they don't care how what they wear or how they look, the first impression will stay a long time with everyone you meet. As I use to tell my girls, you don't have to like dressing to impress, just pretend you do for the first meeting.

I am 60, and I won't wear anything a certain way to please some other woman, and only my husband as far as the men are concerned. Now if a job requires something in particular to work there, then it's up to me to do it or leave, but if it's just because some guy wants my legs to look better for him. No Way! These days many could be brought up for sexual harassment for that. My rule is as long as I am dressed decent then it's no ones business. My thoughts for me of dressed decent is clothes covering me where you don't see my private body parts.

I have worn panty hose since 8th grade. I actually feel more comfortable in them - and I like the way my legs look when I have them on. I use slips, I like how my dresses/skirts do not cling then. I wear dresses (or skirts/blouses). I like feeling dressed up. I've been called old fashioned. I've been called insane. As some of you said, I only have to please myself. And dressing this way pleases me.

I think I quit wearing panty hose about 10 years ago. Not even for work or dress up. Occasionally do leggings if its below freezing and I'm going to be out all day.
