I wear SAS with orthotics because I have Morton's neuroma. The ball of my right foot burns when I irritate it by walking on unven surfaces. And now I also have fallen arches! Aging is tough. I need to lose some weight as well. Now that weather is getting better, I hope I can get back to walking my dogs.

My dh has lots of foot problems such as plantar fasciitis , he tried the podiatrist route.
what relieved him of ALL his problems is that he now wears Earth shoes exclusively. (negative heel or what ever they call that ;)

I've always thought they were ugly as sin (still do) BUT....
I got some of the "Relief" ones that are made for foot pain AND I CAN WALK..
how about that....

I also have some of the Silver Cloud ones for diabetics but prefer the Relief ones...

If you have a Croc outlet nearby (we drive over 100 miles to get to one) you can try them out...
Now, DO NOT buy el cheapo ripoffs from Walmart and expect them to fit like Relief Crocs - take my word for it - no comparison...
I used to have plantar faciatis and was told to take a frozen can of juice and roll my foot over it at night after removing my shoes. Boy did it feel good. My doctor also gave me some exercises for my foot. I used Spendo inserts, they run about $30-40. You can find them at sporting goods stores and sometimes in drug stores. Have also used the Dr. Scholl's (are you gellen?) and liked them. I no longer need to wear inserts!

Also my mom had to have the special shoes made. She was litterly walking on the bones in her feet. The orthodist made a mold of her foot, then the shoes were made exactly like the mold. Without those shoes she could barely walk across the carpet. And they cost betweenj $400 and $500 over 5 years ago!

One of my doctors and my BFF wear them and say they are fabulous. Marley said the coil does not feel strange, just like a regular shoe. I haven't tried them.

Lots of advice here! I, too, have fallen arches and flat feet. I wear tennis shoes from Walmart!!!! I buy ONLY tennis shoes with arch support. And Walmart has, in the past, carried tennis shoes with Dr. Scholls GEL inserts. Last time I was there, they didn't have them. I am not happy with the tennis shoes and will buy some gel inserts to put in them.

Note: when I'm shopping, and my feet start hurting, I take it as a sign from God to stop and get a bite to eat

on edit: My mother's doctor took her off those coil shoes. Too many people have fallen because of them.....that's what HE said, I don't know -- Just be careful.

Marsye,

You and I share some of the same maladies. I have the same problem with my feet. I went to see the doctor and when he measured my feet, I wondered why my feet were still 'growing'. He explained that they are getting flatter and therefore 'bigger', Anyhow he recommended the Birkenstock Blue Foot Beds. They are made of a type of cork and fit into your regular shoes. I had been having plantar fascitis and this took care of that and I have been wearing the now for years. You can find them in all the good shoe shops, or do a search on the name. I hope this helps; let me know if it did.
