That passing out bit says to me that they are not drinking
enough water. I work with/volunteer with our local blood
bank, and hear often of people fainting from sheer
dehydration!! When badly dehydrated you can't even give
blood, you can't work hard in the heat, you should not even
walk much till you drink water.
When working in the heat you absolutely MUST drink lots of water. Not soda, not milk, not those "power" drinks, but plain old water.
Some of the males in my family asks us to save them empty
milk jugs, which they fill with water and freeze, then take them
on work projects. Each one has his own marked jugs and drink from them often. And makes sure they drink a certain amount in each hour. None have fainted from the heat.

I too hope this rain moves east to cool you down, then maybe we won't have flash floods here. two in the same place within 3 days. same creek flooded. It's been in the 80's here for a week or more, but you have to take the rain and humidity along with it. We are the ones who usually has the 98* weather every day. that's why you have to have air conditioners here. About window units.... they get stolen right out of your windows regularly. I know.

Hot in CT until today, too. I'm chuckling, because 2 weeks ago we arrived in Duluth to take a weeklong cruise on the Great Lakes, and I wore turtlenecks and a jacket for 5 of the 7 days! We ended the cruise in Toronto on July 3, and they were expecting 100 degrees the next day!

It has been in the 90s here to, and I had to finish my granddaughters jean quilt which was lined with flees. I got sick from the heat and quilting it. I will post a few pictures in a couple days. God bless. Penny
