We're on a walking route to an elementary school.... anything large in working order, we put on our front drive with a FREE sign..... it's nice to see others enjoy your things that have out lived their purpose in your home. If it's smaller items we usually donate them to a shop that raises funds for Battered Women.

If I don't want somthing that is to big to take to the Thrift shop all I do is put it in the front with a free sign on it and it will be out of here in a few hours. What ever works.

Another site is called Freeuse. Ours used to be called Freecycle but they changed it because of some legal thing with it. It is also a Yahoo group.

My DDIL loves it. I am going to give her a bunch of my apparel fabrics I will never use, to put on freecycle. I can't be bothered. I am skeeved by yard sales and flea markets; I sure wouldn't be able to handle the strangers that might appear on my doorstep.
Fabric???? have you tried to sell it on here... I have spent wayyy more than my budget would really be happy with

i only do porch pickups..thier name gets put on the bag or item, and it sits there, waiting for them to pick it up. if it does not get picked up when they said they would be there, i go down to the next person who requested it..
i also keep a list of "no-shows",and state on the bottom of the original "offer" post that "no shows" will not be considered.

Freecycle is what allowed me to begin my quilting adventure. I answered a post for two trash bags of scrap material, met her at the local shopping center and we've been friends since.

I've also been able to give away many things that we just have no use for anymore. I do agree, the demands of some folks are outrageous. They seem mighty picky about what they get. When we started out as a newly married couple our home was furnished in Early Goodwill and we were glad to have it.

You can find local Freecycle groups in Yahoo groups. I've given away a lot of things (and not junk). I never let the people come to my house though, always meet at a public place. I also check the posts and only give things to people who have also given things away because I don't like the greedy ones who just take, take, take...or get things free just to sell them at a yard sale.
