I get those containers from work and can't get the coffee smell out of them. How do you get the smell out?? I want to use them to store food things. I do use one for kitchen scrapes until I can put them into my compost pile, haven't thought of any other use for them though.

I always put my flour and sugar in them. They keep things really fresh. Especially do I like them for my camper, as they are plastic and I don't have any glass in the camper. Good cookie jars too.

whatever you can think of it can be made into with a little tweak here and there. If you knit you can place yoru yarn into the cpontainer cut a small hole out of teh top thread yarn thru it to keep it clean while you are knitting away.Make a crayon and coloring book conatiner for in the car for the kids.Would be interesting to se what kids would make out of them .

I make bird houses out of mine. Remove the lid and lay the container on it's side punch 2 small holes in the top 1/3rd of the way back from the open end. Thread wire thru the two holes and twist tightly to make a hanger. Roll container so opposite side is facing up and punch several holes on the bottom side at the closed end of the container. This is for drainage. Cut a 1 1/2" hole, centered just below the halfway mark on the lid. Poke another hole 1/2" below the larger hole and insert a short stick for a perch, if desired.

check this out! Have done this and it is a great way to recyle! Also, I save mine for the nursery schools, they love them. Kids makes drums out of them and other projects. Great for crayon holder too!

I use mine as compost buckets and chicken buckets. Alway keep them under the sink to dispose of compostable materials and edible stuff for the chickens. When they get rather ucky I keep them in a bin and later use them as garden pots for transplants, I cut holes in the bottom edge for drainage. I also use them to storage containers for beans, rice, etc. I write contents on the side with a felt tip marker. Can't stand to throw them away.
