I always say, "if you come to see me, come any time; If you come to see my house, make an appointment".
But even then it might not be acceptable for most. It's just me now and no family near by, so not much of a
problem.

We live in the country.....don't have air conditioning, by choice....consequently all our windows are open all the time in the summer.....there are farm fields directly behind us and in front of us.....we get a LOT of dust.....we try to keep up with it but don't stress over it.....keep dishes done up right after use although they may sit until dry and then put away.....bathroom stays fairly clean....we clean up after ourselves.....sink can be everyday or every 2-3 days depending on what we're doing (crafts with paint, makeup, shaving, etc.).....commode as needed....it's obvious when it needs it.....tub once a week.....we both shower so don't have to deal with tub ring.....again, obvious when needed.....we don't have a dryer, by choice..... we do have a rack set up in the back room to hang clothing as it comes out of the washer.....again, dust/lint.....

My grandmother would say, "You know the house is clean when your corners are clean." She could handle clutter , but carpets and hardfloors need to have everything out of the corner floor and baseboards.

I am not happy unless my house is clean. I like things to be clean and tidy. But I also want it to be a home. So my rule is if you make a mess clean it up. Don't leave it for someone else to do. But if you want to have a hot cup of tea or coffee and eat cookie and watch TV it doesn't bother me. Take your shoes off and make your self at home! Just don't leave me a mess to clean up later.

I’m a bit of a neat nick, there is a place for everything and everything has its place. I do dishes as I use them, I make my bed everyday, I clean and dust my sewing room every day at the end of the day, and I vacuum and sweep a few times a week (I have cats). I live alone and so it’s so much easier to keep things tidy, I’m also not much for nick-knacks or other things. I do a deep clean a few times a year and my only rules for visitors are, remove your shoes before coming in and make yourself at home. My house is homey and comfy, not stuffy or uninviting; I really don’t care how others keep their homes because I don’t live there, as long as everyone is happy, it’s all good.

Clutter seems to gather...I can stand it for awhile and then BOOM! A cleaning and organizing frenzie happens...I do vacuum every week as well as laundry and dusting. Dishes are washed and put away after my meal each day but somehow clutter just occurs out of nowhere...

I have been in homes where I was very uncomfortable because of lack of housekeeping. The owners all seemed unaware of how bad their homes were. May as well have a sign saying We are too lazy to clean for ourselves much less for visitors.

Sure it's hard to believe but when I go to someone's home I go to see who lives there. I don't compare my home to their's.....if it's a mess I don't catalogue it in my mind and run out and tell everyone if it was messy. I much prefer a home that looks lived in, has signs of life .....I visited a home once that plastic covering their carpet and every piece of furniture was clothed in plastic.....not my cup of tea.....

House is basically clean except for clutter everywhere!! we are both stage 1 hoarders and have our hobbies etc, all over the place. But, you know what, we live here....so it's all good!
