I remember the "go outside and blow the stink off" mantra. My dermatologist asked me if I was out in the sun a lot when I was younger! Hmf, we were outside more than we were inside! She, being younger than I (aren't most doctors nowadays?) couldn't understand it.

I have often thought about the same thing....back in the days before everything had to be politically correct!! What a misnomer that is!!! :?

We worked hard back then but always had plenty of spare time to do the important things. Playing Jacks with my friends, having Yo-yo competitions, roller skating with clamp on roller skates and a skate key. Playing cowboys with stick guns riding imaginary horses complete with our own sound effects. We had fun. Today we are afraid to let our kids
out of the house. We grew up in the best of times, I think. I know I would never trade those precious memories for all the x boxes, DS's PSP's in the world.

I feel sad that our kids never experienced our simpler way of life! We had such a good time playing outside till dark with ordinary things like balls and stones etc. Made up games and songs...didn't need constant entertainment like today's kids. AND we Never talked back to adults...it just wasn't done. Oh for the Good Old Days!!
