Over 30 yrs ago when my husband and I were first together he said he was going hunting. I said no problem, P have always done most of the cooking, but I said I won't cook it. I also said that since he was taking a week off to go up country hunting I would take a week off to go to Boston shopping.
He never mentioned going hunting again. Now he won't even take wild meat if offered and doesn't like the thought of killing anything.

My DH fishes. I do not. I have tried, but it is not for me. And you'll never see even a dead fish if I'm in the boat. very boring. I fry like a lobster so the boat is no fun and I don't like the sun.
So, we find a cabin for a week or + and he fishes to his hearts content, and I take my machine and sew to my hearts content. We seem to get along great. We explore the area too.

OMGosh! I can't believe how much cleaner! I can pick up a room once, and even if I sewed in it, somehow its picked up of my stuff in 5 min - his stuff; it's worse than trying to keep up with a 4 yr old!
when he gets home from the lake he brings in an armload of dirty scurffy clothes, says , these are dirty, where do you want them? and proceeds to the washer and dumps them on the floor, which is fine EXCEPT the dirty clothes basket is 2 steps to the left of the washer! That basket has been in the same spot for 15 yrs now! sharet

DH has never expected me to do his laundry, why should he? and I can't imagine doing another adults laundry unless they were sick or had no way to do it themselves. My kids started doing their laundry by age 8. Now that you can buy laundry sheets that you toss in the washer, there is no mess or measuring so no excuses. I do the bed changing wash, only because I want those rinsed twice so I do it myself.

My DH is a want-to-be woodworker. Right now his shop is filled with grandsons' stuff. He goes to quilt shops with me. I go to antique/junk shops with him to help him find old hand tools. We get along very well. He has hundred's of dollars worth of lumber stored in his shop. I have hundred's of dollars worth of fabric. We also try to find tools for the other. So glad he isn't a hunter or fisherman!

i just luv to see how other h/w have worked out their lives to live together and be happy. and not be in each others faces every waking minute. like me and mine--47 yrs. we both have/had good hobbies over the yrs, and have also worked jobs together lots. but we can each go and do our own hobbies and enjoy the time apart. then we enjoy the time together also. and each support the others injoyment. makes life just grand in my book.
