OKC has a wonderful hands on kids science museum! Great Salt Plains was amazing, my kids loved it and even did science project the following year after we visited.
You've gotten some awesome suggestions from the members of the group!!! Tye Dying shirts is certainly always a hit with the kids! Whatever you do have fun and enjoy the time. It will be great memories for all. Anne
Great Salt Plains is fantastic, I agree! Did you get to the north side? I wrote about it earlier. They have the brackish water, and LOTS for migratory birds who DINE and rest on their long journeys. It is heaven spring and fall. HIGHLY recommend...if you like peace and quiet and watching all of God's array of creatures. (I DO!)

CRAYONS! I just ck'd online. Unfortunately the Winfield KS loc closed in '97 per their info...only locs in PA now. Oh well. Did you ever attend the Folk Music Festival (Walnut Valley Festival). Got their mailing this last week, will be 39th one this year Sept 15-19. Can camp etc. RAINS though. What a mess! We decided to got w/o reservations anywhere till 2 wks prior...HUGE mistake. Had to drive an hour back/forth to event AND had to go buy cleaning supplies and clean the room myself. I'd like to go again, but MUST make reservations a year out. BEST, BEST music!!!!! I love it attracts all age groups, such an interesting event. Me, I like the 'ol stuff. ALL accoustic!

How bout an old fashion Taffy Pull?

Wini - House of BCC in Houston
My mom's auntie used to do this for her and her cousins when she was a youngster. I'd always hear about the taffy pulls as a youngster LISTENING to everyone at the Family Reunions. But, I've never done this, or made taffy. Do you have a reliable recipe. Mom was not too interested in cooking, etc., but she said it was kinda "iffy" in prep. Maybe she just did not especially want to do it though. Have you made taffy? Any words of wisdom? Mom did say it was awfully hot...when started out the process. I do want to be sure not to send all the kids to the ER!!! Might end my Grandma Camps permanently! I need training first on this one.

How about, the older ones are teens, how bout making some kind of digital memory book of camp and grandma and grandpas? The older kids can even help the younger kids on this. Like they could take lots of photos, play dress up, and take funny photos of each other, photos of fun stuff you guys do. And then, they can even edit the photos. You can edit a photo into a pencil sketch, print it out, and they can even colour them. Or if there's a video camera around, the kids could make a fun video. It sounds like you're gonna have tons of fun :) Oh, and if they've never seen The Honeymooners lol, you gotta find a copy of that, our kids used to laugh so hard over that show lol
My dad used to enjoy "The Honeymooners" and we seldom missed an episode...I sure do remember that. It was kinda painful to watch as a child...funnier now. Just got our first digital camera. And I've STILL never had the nerve to insert the little cords and thingies...scared I'll lose my Yellowstone pics...
It was a once in a lifetime trip. I'd better just get another chip-thing. And let them use a different one. I'd be less nervous about that. (I know, I'm being extremely stupid, I know!)

There is also a water park on west Garrison.
I took the older ones (few years back) to some place which sounds like what you are describing...it was about an hour east of OKC, and south a little....seems like the place was named after a lady...but an unusual name I don't recall right off. That was a nice place. It was to give kids a "taste" of varied career paths....everything. LOTS of hands-on inspirational "seeds" to see what really clicked in them. Have not been back since they were really a little big for it then. Youngest would enjoy though either this year or next year. Do you know the names of the Enid locs? I have not ever heard of these wonderful places...and they sound WONDERFUL! Thank you!

This sounds divine...esp. with the little one. Nice quiet time "back at the ranch!" I get tired out...this would be a great way to recharge.

ALSO, I LOVE YOUR FLOWER BASKETS QUILT!!!!!

    Ummm, gingerbread!!!

Also I love Mod Podge with fabric scraps. Recycle some cans, jars, whatever. Give the kids the scraps & get the older one to fussy-cut some figures to glue on last.

Is MOD PODGE a craft item, like glue or something, or is it a crafting practice/method? I recall covering a cheapo white cat with lots of calico bits (jr high or so) and covering with clear plastic -something- (WHAT I do NOT recall!). I had it for years, because I really did like the little thing. There's a bunch of stuff i've recently discarded, given away, etc. MAJOR clean-out! FEELS SO GOOD!!! I guess we'd just have to go rebuy my junk at the thrift store

When the school year starts, it's hard to find time. Now I am going to send you a photo of leaf printing- another favorite of mine.
    :P

Oh yes! Some years ago I sent them a ginger bread house to decorate with frosting and candy. They mailed me a picture, which is (of course) still on my frig to this day! Their mom tells me they ate it up!

Yes!! I spent a number of years as a craft vendor 25+ years ago at Winfield it was always great fun, always seemed to either be REALLY HOT or REALLY WET!! I was usually under the grandstand, the music was always AMAZING. I am so sorry to hear of the Crayon Factory, it was soo neat, guess I must have gotten there the last time just before it closed... to sad and I am sure it made a great impact on the local economy.

Check out Woolaroc Museum, Outside of Bartlesville and OSAGE Hills Park. There use to be a place out on the Cimarron River by Perkins that did trail rides, and had a famous "hideout"... but don't remember what it was called.. check out the following for ideas.
