We got a Doxie last year and have just fallen in love with him. He rules the house and is the alpha dog despite the fact that the other two dogs have more seniority. We also call him demon dog, devil dog, and headed to the pound dog but would never part with him. We try to wear him out by throwing the ball to him in our yard but that has only brought his true OCD to the forefront. He wears us out. Your picture is cute. Our other dogs are a mixed small terrier and a mixed australian shepherd.

Ihad a house built last year and asked one of my daughters to move in with me. I'm 78 and thought it would be a good idea to have someone with me. I have two dogs and she has three so now we are a five dog household. Usually they get along okay but there is jealousy between them especially when food or treats are concerned. One of my dogs is 5 1/2 and the others are between 12 and 15. It's been an excperience learning to live with so many dogs.

This works for our Doxie. Gently pin her down until she stops resisting you. Tell her no. She'll become submissive when she stops squirming. Then walk away don't give her any attention and refuse hers. They are really smart dogs but you need to let her know who is in charge - you.

I have three Yorkies, all different sizes and ages. The youngest is known as the dog from hell. She was so destructive that we wanted to give her back after just two weeks. She is very Alpha and the other two (females ) aren't. The oldest one puts her in her place though. When Lucy has had enough she grabs Suzie by her bottom lip and pulls her around the room. Suzie steers clear of her now, sore lip I guess. Suzie is my avatar.

Now I'm glad I only have one doxie. He is the sweetest little (17lbs) boy. Chocolate/tan dapple that is so spoiled.

Jaciqltznok, I'm wishing you a lot of luck with your girl, Daisy. I'm glad you got a chance to walk with her alone and saw how she is when you are alpha.

One thing I've heard and love is "A tired dog is a happy dog." Maybe if you postively wore her out with some serious running, she wouldn't have the energy to jump on you or act crazy alpha with your boy.

Enjoy your doggies.

Enjoy her!!
FUNNY you should mention Her Badger holes....they are all over my back yard...of course there are NO badgers..only little moles...but she is bound and determined she WILL get one out of there sooner or later...what a mess this little girl can be...

ok..so let her be top dog, but how do I stop the constant jumping up AT me??? she has been here 2months now and is just over a year old..can I toss her on her backside and show her I am TOP dog now???
yes- hand at throat until she lowers her eyes. Works on big dogs as well. If you let her alpha you you are in for a world of hurt. I feel for poor Harley. I do NOT allow any alpha but me.
