To each is own, I will keep my long hair until I choose to cut it. I like being able to braid it in the summer and keep it completely up and away from my head. I have a lot of hair and even short it would be too hot for me.

I have long hair, but I can't stand having it in my face so it is always pulled up somehow. And double dipping is gross if you are a chef and getting paid for it, but in my house, if something is cooking on the stove and you want to taste, you pick up the stirring spoon and taste it with that, but the first sign of someone being sick, they're kicked out of the kitchen. But hair in food is gross, especially long hair because it just keeps coming as you try to pull it out!

Agree, love Barfoot contessa -Ina Garten but she uses sooooooooooo much salt ,it is incredible, that really worries me..

even when I am just cooking for DH and me, I use the stirring spoon to drop some of the food onto a tasting spoon, which then goes in my mouth - not back in the food - YUCK to multiple people lapping in the food while it is cooking!!

I can gross myself out if I think too hard. I never understood the disgust of hair, you can pick it out. Plus most people wash their hair. No sweat, spit, mouth bacteria, dandruff, blood, dirt, fingertips, bugs, or cross contamination in my food please. Hairless would be nice too, but sometimes it happens. Gee whiz, now I don't want to eat out tonight. Think they'll let me back in the kitchen?

Pick it out!!! yuck. i ate at an oriental fast food place when working in Houston and didn't order from that place again for years. sorry, but i dont even want to pick my own hair out of my food. hair nets are a must in food service of any kind.

Had a lovely meal out tonight. No hair. Cannot be sure about sweat, saliva or nasty hands. It's a rough world out there! Maybe the germs make us tougher? It is my hope.

I was a kitchen manager for many years, Our health department had a very long detailed list of must does to be followed, and we did, When hired each new employee was handed those list and a second list of my rules. They were told to read them before the first day of work when they arrived I asked if they had read them if they said yes, I asked them to sign a statment saying they had read all the rules and agreed to abide by them if they did not it was grounds for imedient dismissel. If I got the OH I forgot to read them line I showed them the door. All the rules and regulations were basic common sence. Wash hands, if wearing rings were gloves change gloves when changing what your doing , wash hands inbetween gloves, everyone wears hairnet,and beard and mushstash nets as needed. I don't care if facel hair is 1/16 or 6 inches, your hair can be 1/2 in and it will still fall out just as offten as hair that is 2 foot long. Got the sniffels, stay home, have allergies, take something for it. No sneezing allowed in kitchen! The list went on and on. LOL some times I had to stop and explain why the rules existed. but after weeding out some real doozies, It took about 8 months I had a very good crew, had one young man that took a break after breakfast and before lunch to step into the mens room and shave , he hated the nets and had a beard that showed up after about 4-5 hrs.Any good business or cook, chef. ect will want only the best for his business and clients, I really wonder about the "professionals" you see on TV? Are the just actors? or just don't care about there customers health? Now that I've had my rant I'll shut up! LOL
