No rain here today in Corning and thank fully another heat wave coming our way.
Means more pool time before our snowy, dreary winter gets here.

    Where in AZ are you?
We've had a couple of doozy monsoon storms this past week in the Tucson area. They say we're in for some rain this weekend from either a tropical storm or hurricane remnants (can't remember which) that has blown this far in. It is very green here right now - my mini roses and geraniums are exploding, the saguros are fat, and the ocotillo look like fuzzy pipecleaners!

I grew up in Herkimer. When I was 14, my parents moved to So. Calif. I finally went back to Herk. after 45 yrs. and I really had forgotten how beautiful upstate is. So we have been back 4 times since and are going again in 2012 for a reunion. As a girl, I loved where I lived and the snow or head didn't bother me then. We are at 105 again today and I just stay in.[/quote]

I love Herkimer. Went there two years ago to the "Diamond" mines and had a great time. The drive there was amazing.

I lived in WNY for 48 years, near Niagara Falls. A small town next to Lake Ontario named Youngstown. Sure miss the spring and summer but not the fall and winter. My dad grew up in Binghamton and we would go there to visit grandpa and an aunt at least once a year and one year I got to spend a month in the summer. Haven't been back for 6 years and miss it.

I'm so envious!! We have the rain here...every day for the last week but also it's hot and muggy in the high 90's. I'm ready for fall and winter. I can always put another quilt on the bed but can only take off so much in the summer :-P :-P

My goodness. I still have cousins in Utica and I grew up in Herkimer. I wonder if your Mother's family would know my family. What was her last name?

Wow - what a small world that there are so many that know the Utica area! I moved to Tucson 6 years ago and have met so many people that are either from the Utica or Binghamton area. When I lived in downstate NY (at least that's what I call it) near Monroe NY, there were very few people who were familiar with Upstate cities/towns.
