They also usually have a free enrollment 3 months before your 65th birthday. Check your local papers or online the webinar I went to I would have missed if it weren't for DH informing me. He has another 7 years to go.

I love plan F. It is easier to know what to pay than plan for the unknown. You can go to any doctor or specialist but you must ask if they accept Medicare assignment. That means that they accept what Medicare pays and your supplement picks up the rest of the bill up to what Medicare says is reasonable and customary. If they do not you will be responsible for any amount that they are charging over and above what Medicare and your supplement pays. They will accept the insurance amount but will bill you for any amount over what the insurance pays. Please PM me if you want to talk. This is my area of work.

We have Plan F and love it. Check out all the company fees for Plan F. Our insurance agent told us an important point : no matter what a company tells you, Plan F is still Plan F. My DH has AFib so he has a different company than I do, but it's still Plan F.

Onebyone asked if anyone had the Plan F. Yes, we do. We have never paid anything on hospital, doctor, ect, ect.
In January, I broke my arm. The hospital bill was $34,000 for 3 days, and surgery.
After Medicare cut that they weren't going to pay, and the Plan F came in we owed nothing. So, the plan paid everything, no questions asked. That is just one example for us!

We had the F plan for my DH before he passed and it worked very well for his COPD illness. He was in and out of the hospital frequently toward the end so the F premium was money well spent. Never had to worry about any unexpected bills. It's a very good supplement if you have ongoing illness where you know you could have a lot of out-of-pocket expenses.

Basically, you pay your monthly Medicare premium then pay a separate premium for whatever supplement plan you sign up for.
