My DD and family dealt with similar issues while waiting to move into a place of their own. A 26 ft travel trailer just doesn't leave much room for anything when you have 2 adults and a toddler and all the kid stuff...pullups,wipes,clothes,toys, dirty clothes, etc. plus me visiting on weekends trying to get my land cleared.
Thankfully they have their own four BR single wide now.

I guess now I have to stop crabbing about moving my sewing things all around the house. Maybe you can store some of your things at a close friend's house? I know it's not the same as having things close by, but at least you may be able to keep more than you planned. Good Luck!

Have you thought about---"when you can't go out in to a room...you can go UP?" Stack bins in just the space of 1 bin on the floor----and go UP? Would that help? Only trying to help---my priorities and hubby's are different also..so I DID go up. decorating the bins to match the decor of the room.

Sending positive thoughts and (((((HUGS)))))!!! I know the pain of trying to squeeze so much into a space big enough for a mouse to live in. I agree try upwards with bins if you can. You can vent here any time you need, even pm me if you need it. Keep designing that dream sewing room in the new house in your head, you will get there and it will be fantastic!!

your baby girl is pecious. I feel your pain even tho I live alone in a 3 bedroom house. I took the small bedroom for my sewing room along with a tv, computer and cabinets, etc.
I wish you lots of luck in sorting and stowing stuff. I know you can do it.

I have been where you are so I understand. It gets better. It will be really easy to go twenty years without quilting again like I did. Looking back, if I had set a goal to have everything back out in six months to a year, I wouldn't have missed out on so much quilting time. Life gets in the way if you let it. Best wishes and I hope you can get back to quilting soon.

Am there right now!!! We moved from the city to the country into a house that is less than half the size of our old house. I sold/gave away furniture for 5 rooms and in the process sold my bedroom set that belonged to my great aunt, my mother, then me :( I didn't start to quilt until we had been in the teeny tiny "Play house" (as I call it) so I took over 1 tiny corner of the only guest bedroom we have. I quilted for a year on top of the washer...soooo...you can do what you gotta do while you gotta do it..... Doesn't make it easier, but you'll make it.... :-D

can you pack your fabric in rubbermaid or sterlite plastic lidded containers and then put them into one of those plastic or wood outdoor sheds? you can get a lot in there, even the small gardening ones, and take out what you need a little at a time. if you get one big enough to share with your husband, it should make his life easier also. how high are the ceilings? shelves over the doorways are good.
over all the windows. keep other things there to make private space for your sewing things. as was said, raise all the furniture. under the baby's crib. throw out the pots and pans. hang closed cabinets all over every wall. this isn't a forever home, after all.
it'll all happen. patience, grasshopper.

I have lived in an apartment, in a little house and in a BIG house... and I can attest to the "fact" that the smaller the living quarter the harder it is to keep neat and clean!

One has to be sickly organized (or my DIL says anal retentive) to live in a small space. In my experience we clutters have more fun!

Did you pity party help? We've all been there. When my DD was born we live in a tiny, tiny trailer. Her bedroom was a niche in the hall. Had to buy a special crib to fit the spot. I was not the fabric collector that I am now. Each house my sewing room/studio got bigger and better. I lost a 2 bills recently and didn't know until I got the gentle reminder. How embarrassing was that for me. Had the money, still don't know what happened to the bills.
