I have a cheapy Dirt Devil upright from Walmart. Paid around 80$ for it. It is for pet hair. You should see the corgi hair it picks up! I also have a Riccar 300$. that I like BUT the dog hair clogs it up! I use the Riccar in my sewing room . The cheapy one lives on my main floor where the dog stays most of the time.

I did not care for the Oreck....too lightweight. Hoover Wind Tunnels are great too. I have had a couple of those too. Loved them. I think pet hair is rough on vacs.

I have a Dyson for downstairs and forget what I just bought for upstairs. At one point I had a small Dirt Devil upright for upstairs and I must say, I think it picked up stuff better than my Dyson. Issue for me was that it had no attachments and the Dyson is just too painful to lug up/down the stairs. I did buy a Dirt Devil upright w/attachments for upstairs and one point and that one ended up on the front lawn one day after about the 4th or 5th time using it and having the stupid thing fall apart. DH came home, just picked it up and gave it to his bro! Didn't even question the fact that it was in pieces on the front lawn!

One of the best vacuums that I've ever had was a Kirby and then the Oreck. I loved the Oreck and got lots of yrs from it with no issues. In the past few yrs I've gotten the Eureka (2) for pets because that's an issue for me and neither one lasted 6 mos without problems so I went back to the Hoover. I'd like to get the Hoover sold on TV but that'll have to wait. Mine now is wearing out and gets clogged up with the dog hair but I'll have to deal with it until I can afford another one. I won't get a Dyson, they did a test on GMA and it might be powerful but lost suction faster than Hoover.

I have an Oreck and love it. It's not so heavy and bulky. I also have the small Oreck you can carry and do drapes with it.

I also have have an oreck, and a hoover runabout canister and a small shop vac. We replaced our carpeting with hardwood floors years ago. I use the oreck for a room size rug in my sewing room and to clean mats. Use the others for lots of other things.

I too buy the cheepies and plan to replace often. They are so lightweight I can use them without many problems/ the more expensive one are just to heavy for me to push around. i once sold Kirbys they are a big rip off at that time Kirby was our biggest compution. I love Hoovers but find. they are too heavy for me to use

I have a Dyson and love it! I live in a two story and with my Dyson I can use the attachment and vacuum the steps without having to carry it upstairs. It's so user friendly cleaning isn't that much of a pain.
