Unfortunately, just copying everything from one computer to another is does not usually work. You can copy all of the files and data but you need to reinstall your programs using the original disks -- copying them does not work unless the ctwo computers are identical.

Nannamoms idea about contacting Dell to see if they have a refurbished computer like yours would be a good way to go --if you can get a good used laptop with XP that would be the best way to go, that way you can be sure the programs you have will run on the new computer.

I have some programs that ran on XP that work just fine on Windows 7, but I have had to replace other programs that were designed for Vista with newer versions.

PM me if you have questions and I will give you more information.
I was wondering when someone would bring that up.

You need a new computer, you can't buy just the shell. A new computer is just a shell. All that's necessary is to transfer your infomation that's in the existing unit to the new unit.

Go try the dump, people throw out laptops and computers all the time, you might find something there. Also call pawn shops, and computer repair stores, bet they have something. And try posting ISO on craigslist and freecycle.

Did you know the plastic shells over the keys pop off, and you can gently gently pull-bend the springs- works underneath back up to where they will work better.

Get somebody who knows how that works to help you!

http://www.tigerdirect.com

Try them for parts. They have been around for years and I have ordered from them before. Good luck!

I bought a new laptop several years ago and bought a program called Lacie to transfer all the information. It worked great with no issues. Hope this helps.
