I have an old magazine article about how to make 'paper dolls'. If you can be patience, I'll try to get out in the next day or two. Then I can pm it to you.

Fleece would work well too if it wasn't very heavy.

I did these and they were a lot of work. The dolls had to be cut out of foam board and ironed on and the back had to have fabric on it. The clothes were backed with flannel which did its job of sticking to the doll. I button hole stitched around the doll because with any use they would fray and come apart!

I'll look for it later today. It's been awhile since I read the directions so I can't answer detail questions about it right now. I'm planning a quilt with that fabric and the same magazine also had the directions for the paper dolls which I also plan on making one day.

I, too, am interested in the ideas/thoughts here - I was just reading about velcro but was thinking that might be kind of thick. I like a couple of other ideas I saw here and will give them a try.
