I have gotten marker out with cheap hairspray....soaking it and dabbing it, on & on for a long time. But it did come out. Awesome is a great product! I love that stuff! It even cleans cement. LOL Got red paint off of my white SUV when it got creamed at a parking lot. If all else fails, I would try the Awesome. And it is really cheap also!

As a retired teacher who has absent-mindedly placed permenant markers back in her pocket with the top off, I found that if you do not put ANYTHING (including water on the stain,& spray Simple Green (sometimes in Auto Dept.)directly on stain you can get it out. I usually placed an old piece of toweling under the stain to protect the fabric behind the flattened garment. Spray, rub against itself, spray again & let sit for a couple of hours. Wash with wasrm water and detergent, & check before placing in dryer. If the mark is not completly gone, repeat treatment while still wet & wash again. Worked for me! Good Luck!

There is a fabric dye method that uses sharpies and alcohol. The idea is to color on fabric with sharpies and then spray with rubbing alcohol and the sharpie marks will run, blur and thin. Then it is heat set to make permanent. So two solutions come to mind, one the previously posted one using alcohol and paper towels until the mark is diminished or gone, or what I would do.....go the other way and pull out a bunch of sharpie colors and just go to town to turn that mark into a design and then spray it to watch the pattern bloom and spread and then heat set it. It is great to turn a potential disaster to an added decorative element. I once did this to a white knit top and loved it to death. I go lots of comments asking where I got the great shirt.

I use to use baby wipes for regular ink and that worked, maybe see if it will work on the sharpie.

Just before guests were due to arrive, I found my couch covered with perm. black magic marker. I grabbed the hair spray (cheap) and sprayed, rubbed, and blotted and got it out. The couch felt stiff, but wasn't black any more. Some time later, I recovered it and the foam under it was really black/
