All cpaps are not created equal. A friend asked me to room with her at a retreat and I was reluctant because I knew she used a cpap. Someone else who had roomed with her before told me I'd never hear the machine. She was right. This machine was extremely quiet and I never heard a thing.

My husband snored and was sent for a sleep study...they woke him after and hour and told him to go home and get a cpap machine. Whatever else they told him, scared him because he is 100% compliant with use of the machine.
One of the leading causes of death in women is heart attack and sleep apnea is often a symptom of impending trouble...please tell your doctor about this and look into a sleep study. You may be saving your life!

I'm a light sleeper and need very few hours of sleep daily. Plus I feel I was blessed being born deaf in one ear so I sleep on that side and can't hear my fellow sleeper snoring to her heart's content. I rarely ever hear her get up whether in the middle of the night or early in the morning so I guess you can call me lucky being born with a defective part. It also comes in handy when you want to tune the surrounding noise around her or someone's talking at you that you don't want to listen to. Think that's called "selective hearing"...........

I was a snorer and a bipap machine made my life much more manageable; I no longer nap in the afternoons; I feel so much better, but getting used to the machine was a chore.

May I suggest a trial run with melatonin prior to a trip? It makes my heart race. . . . bad! Really really bad!

Just be aware that the pills come in different doses...3 mg., 5 mg., and 10 mg. (Maybe other sizes as well, but those three strengths are the ones that I see most commonly.) If you choose to try this, you will need to experiment with different doses. My mother used 10 mg. routinely once we made this discovery, but 3 mg. is all I ever needed to get to sleep in a timely manner and wake up the next day feeling right.

I accidentally took one of her 10 mg. tablets once. I slept fine, but felt a little out of it the next day.
Where do you buy the melatonin or is it prescription? My snoring doesn't bother me but it does the DH.

My ASG group does a retreat every year, but they have only a very few single rooms available. If you don’t get your money in the first few days, you have to share. I just won’t go if I can’t have a single room. I snore, I go to bed early and wake up early, I make a cup of tea with an electric kettle as soon as I get up, and I like to sleep in a gown without underwear. All of these things make sharing a room problematic. Sigh. The retreats are so much fun.

Any drug store will carry it. Check the vitamin or supplement aisle. I like the chewable ones, but either works.

Yes my roommate snores lol. She knows it. I have a sound machine and put it on high right beside my head. Usually takes care of it.
