Subject lines---would anyone else find them to be more helpful if they were longer such as the one I'm posting now? I'm continuing to type here in the subject line just to give us all a feel for how much room we have on a title line for a new topic.

I prefer shorter ones with a hint as to what is actually in the post. I do not appreciate the 'gotcha to look' ones that I am really not interested in...nor the lenghty starred ones. I spend to much time on my computer, anyway, and generally only open those that appear to interest me. Likewise, if I do open one and discover I am not interested in it, I just close it and go on.

yes, more specific PLEASE. "looking for" does not tell me much. And please if you are discussing something topical and timely (gas prices, Hoarding TV show, snow storm,) why not check the first couple of pages and see if someone else has already started a topic on it? Thanks.

I am going to suggest while we are talking that perhaps as part of the registration process, people are provided the abbreviation list. I think it would be nice for everyone.(ok, I know not everyone would bother to read it).

IF the subject line was larger wouldn't the amount per page of posts be lessened? If so ALOT of posts will get lost, pushed back as new topics appear and eventually dropped as we only have so many previous pages available before we get the start over button/tab...
Id hate to see them lost because of larger subject lines..

I like the short lines BUT I get frustrated when I try to find something I read previously and the subject line has nothing to do with the subject, or it's vague or ambiguous.
For example, instead of saying "nifty fabric idea", say "fabric storage boards" as the subject, then when I'm looking for fabric storage ideas, I can find this in search.

she's suggesting we create titles that indicate more clearly what's inside. That's actually a recommendation included in the board's rules. It helps others find our topics when they're searching for information members have contributed about specific subjects. it creates more interest in the topics when they first go up, too.
