Up at 3:45 and I blame menopause
#11
I have about 25 to 30 hot flashes a day. It is so miserable. I don't mind getting up early I just wish I could get to sleep in the first place. I have been going through this for 1 1/2 years. I read some where hot flashes could last 6 months to 15 YEARS!!!!!

Aw, hugs! Maybe you should ask the Dr. for something....I am a light sleeper, and I know its just AWFUL if the dogs wake me up, and I just toss and turn. I'm kind of afraid of pills, so I just get up and read or do something relaxing....

My worst sympton is the sweating, not too much anymore, except when I go shopping. No matter if I am just browsing or in a hurry, my face gets beet red and the sweat pours off me. No way I can try on clothes at a store. I went through the not sleeping, hated being up at 2:00 AM! That lasted about a year, night sweats lasted about that long, I too , sleep with a fan on, still do. Sorry girls, but I started all this stuff in my mid 30's, had the last period at 47, and I am now 71. Most of the time, now, nothing bothers me except waking up really early in the morning( which I don't mind), and the darn shopping sweats.

When I was going through menopause I also had trouble sleeping more than a few hours. Then I found the secret....only sleep every other night!!....lol
I had to be up all night a couple times a week with my MIL and of course I never seemed to actually sleep during the day when I'd try to take a nap. So I gave up trying.
My schedule seemed to be that I'd get up at 6am on Day One, then stay with my MIL all that night, come home morning of Day Two, always had things to do and had phones ringing, etc etc, crash into bed about 7:30pm on Day Two and sleep like the Dead all night!
Felt great...I haven't slept that soundly since I was young.
P.S. I don't recommend this if you have a real job since my brain crashed before I did on Day Two!

Ermma Bombeck once said that it wasn't menopause that kept you from sleeping, it was the fact that by the time it hit, we had forgotten how to sleep because of husbands, kids and life in general because the only way we can get it all done is to do it after everyone else is asleep!!! Seriously, try wild yam cream. My doc gave it to me and it worked wonders.

Boy, isn't it fun being a woman!! I find that my hot flashes are brought on by stress. When I'm feeling really stressed, B Complex helps with it. My usual time to get up is 4:45 and lately I've been getting up from 3am on. Very frustrating, by 9pm I'm sooo exhausted I fall asleep and back up at 3. Atleast it 6 hrs. Weight gain - OH YES!!!! Bloating, water retention, memory, YUP!!

I don't know if this will help you but it was lifesaver for me. I took the flash fighters, over the counter, from wally world. They are in the vitamin section,I used the generic brand and they were great. I would take them for a few weeks and was able to stop until symptoms would start up again.Good luck.

45 and in full swing with it here! I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago right ds was born. Nursed him for 16months and then it hit. Night sweats are terrible but its the constant temp changes I have that get me. I'm wither so hot I'm ready to sweat or freezing to death. Oh and did I mention mood swings? I take epo, black cohosh, and dong quai and those seem to keep those symptoms under control. Melatonin works wonders for sleeping.

I feel for you they are unpleasant. I'm dealing with a statin pill for my tris and chloestol of i can't spell where is spell check, While anyways the pill gives me a prickly hot flash. Starts at forehead and works it way done. If it is really bad I get so weak i can't stand it. I see Dr. this week and if it isn't helping numbers away it goes it is torture. I would take back my hot flashes any day. Were not good but better than this. Hope you feel better.
