What do you say when you want to say something "bad" - but want to maintain the illusion of sounding like a lady or gentleman?

actual conversation (with one of my smart-mouthed kids, when she was about 10):
" watch your step, or you'll end up like your brother."
"i don't have a brother."
"that's what you think. go look under the apple tree out back..."
(her eyes got huge, and she shut up, immediately. the next day, i saw her walking around the apple tree out in the 'back 40", looking at the ground...)

I have a friend who says, "Sunken Ditch" or "Sunny Beach"~~
I find myself saying "Dang it" when I drop something or hurt myself. I do not use profane thoughts at other people.... that is a no-no in my book. I guess I am weird. My sweet mother used to say "oh, piffle". She taught my son to say "ding-dong" instead of a bad word. quote the song: "Good authors who once knew better words, now only use four-letter words writing prose~~~ anything goes." I was raised in a non profanity environment, and find it degrading to the person using it. My beloved sister is one of those who does, but it still sends chills up my spine.
