I don't "read" books per se, but I listen to audiobook on my iPod.

Currently I am listening to The Troubleshooters series by Suzanne Brockmann.
Just started book 5 last night.

***
*** I am reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.
***
*** I never had to read it in school - it came out in 1962 - it is considered a classic.
***
*** The people in her home tpown to a play yearly and it is required reading there and most Southern towns.
***
*** They are finally releasing the one she wrote before that one and
*** it has a lot of controversy and I wanted to see why.
***
*** It even had a newspaper story in Canada when I was there in July.
***
*** Now need to buy the other one.

Just finished The Bees by Laline Paull. Loved it.

My favorite have to read books of all time in no order:

1. The Good Earth by Pearl S Buck
2. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
3. The Egg and I by Betty McDonald
4. The Camerons Robert Crichton
5. The ladies of Missalonghi by Colleen Mccullough

I have hundreds but this is a great start.

My book discussion group is doing both of Harper Lee's books for our September meeting. I re-read "mockingbird" and just finished "Go Set A Watchman" yesterday. It was strange. My personal opinion was that the quirkiness of Scout as a child did not translate well as a grown-up. It was hard for me to keep remembering that the second book was written before the first. And if I remember correctly, the man was found guilty in "Mockingbird" but in "Watchman" she remembers him being acquitted, and what a big deal it was that Atticus actually won, defending a black man in those times. But I do encourage you to read it. It is certainly a statement for the 60's and today.

Another audiobook fan here.
I am on W of Sue Grafton's novels. Plus, I am working my way through the
Elm Creek Quilters novels.

I am right in the middle of THE HEALING QUILT by Lauraine Snelling. So far I have been enthralled. Good read. The only problem I have is finding quiet time to sit down with it

I have been reading some of "The Vampire Files" books by P. N. Elrod. I am also reading "The Unlikely Spy" by Daniel Silva. I read the first Outlander book, but had trouble getting into the second one.

I also just finished a couple of short story compilations that were pretty good. It seems like depending on the day, I can spend more time reading or more time quilting and then throw in reading emails.

I just reread John Grisham's "A Time to Kill" then read his "Sycamore Row," all in a matter of days. Little progress in the sewing room this week.

big fan of john sandford's "prey" series set in minnesota--earliest part of the series is the better part (most of it is in the twin cities area. every car chase takes place on streets i know). now reading william kent krueger's minnesota "cork o'conner" series. they take place in the northern part of the state, in mining/BWCA country. enjoying them a lot--not as harsh as sanford's settings. patricia cornwell's series, also--i guess i'm stuck on police procedurals, coroner's investigations, etc. married to a deputy for too many years, and i spent too many years giving anesthesia to ever really leave it all behind...
